Hi,

I do the magnesium sulfate shots ( 3 times a week) myself without

procaine and I find that they barely hurt at all. I do them very slowly and

have no problems. My boyfriend used to do them for me and I would be in

horrible pain for quite a while after. I think that the key is doing them

slower. a

,

I know your post was directed to E. but I found mag. injections

extremely painful both with and w/o procaine. I think even if you need them

initially you'll be ablr to transition to oral mag. glycinate after your

deficiency and GI problems improve and your better able to absorb nutrients.

I have really high pain threshold (maybe because of nerve damage) but those

mag. injections were unbelievably painful! Steve B.

Steve, do you do the IM mag sulfate shots with Procaine or other anesthetic

in them to ease the pain? I am afraid of stuff like procaine, etc...always

seem so sensitive to so many things.

Does anyone do them with out the anesthetic? How painful are these babies?

Maybe I will just stick to the IVs of mag sulfate if I have to use the

anesthetic...

But thought the site was worth it. My hearing used to be really way too

sensitive too.

Yes , I use lidocaine with the mag. shots. for .7 cc of mag. I

use .3 cc of lidocaine. when I get bigger needles I will use 1 cc of

mag. and up the lidocaine just enough so that it works. I did them

without lidocaine every day for about 3 weeks, and wouldn't want to do

it again, but it is not so bad for some folks. Also, it doesn't usually

hurt for very long. Maybe you could use even less than I do just to

take the edge off. At the dose I'm using now it doesn't really hurt at

all, except for the needle stick sometimes.

Well, I need to apologize and withdraw my previous statement above. I

just opened a new vial of Mag. and the shot I drew out of it hurt

like hell for quite some time. Previously, I was drawing my 2 cc's of

Magnesium Sulfate out of a multi dose vial. I had the vial for quite

some time and it must have been getting old. That is the only thing I

can figure out to explain why it used to hurt - stopped hurting at

all - and now hurts again. a
