Guest guest
Hi, this is my third week with IV MgSO4. I take two shots in a week and after the second one I feel steady improvement. Muscle and joint pain is gone and my energy level is amazingly high. I wouldn't believe that. Last week I decided to increase my IPro does from 1/3 a teasp. to 3/4 teasp every other day, which caused mild herxing - so I need a nap again, have low grade fever but on the other hand I sleep better at night. Slow push: Yes, it is necessary to avoid unpeasant side effect - sort of a hot flush. The nurse pushes a bit into your veins and then stops for a while. You feel (after a while, not immediately,) hot in your mucous memebranes - mouth, throat and then it goes lower and disappeares). At this moment I say she can go on and this cycle repeats until the syringe is empty. The first three shots were rather painful and the nurse was warried the needle can get clogged when waiting until I am fine. It also caused some bruising. I have only one good vein suitable for the shots and we were afraid there could be a problem with finding a new one. So she took a very thin needle and it was excelent - no clogging, no pain,no bruises There is 10ml of Mg solution in the syringe containing 1mg of Magnesium Possible side effects: muscle weakness, nausea, BPlowering, vasodilatation, heart activity problems Sounds scary - but as for me, I didn't experience any - my muscles do not hurt, no nausea. I usually have low BP but do not feel dizzy nor fall down after the shot. I have never had heart problems (minor MVP only). Other meds interactions: lowers or even antagonizes effects of Ca ions on myocard and muscle tone; increases effect of meds inhibiting CNS and peripheral myorelaxants Stania
