Guest guest
Hi , The original description of dr Weil is on his website: http://www.pathfinder.com/drweil/database/display/0,1412,100,00.html It says something about that. nne WeebsterCA@... wrote: > > Anybody know if the breathing method Cheney is recommending (inhale four > seconds, hold seven, exhale for eight, eight times, twice daily) would > produce better results if done more often than twice a day, or if the breath > was held for even longer? Guest guest
, I have been using this breathing method for about 5 years when I read about it in Dr. Anrew Weil's book, Spontaneous Healing. Here's what I recall: Always begin this exercise by EXHALING forcefully through pursed lips (blowing smoke) as you slowly contract stomach IN (towards your spine.) EXHALE a little more than you normally would (this creates a vacuum, making it easier to draw more air.) INHALE through your nose -- count to 4 as you slowly expand your stomach OUT (like a baloon). Don't raise your shoulders when you take a deep breath -- expand your chest. Hold to a count 7. EXHALE through your lips as you slowly contract stomach IN (towards your spine) to a count of 8. Repeat 4 times, building up to 8 times. Do this when you first wake up in the morning (before getting out of bed) and before you fall asleep at night. You will gradually be able to count much slower as you become more adept at this. I don't remember if he recommends the belly breathing (daughter borrowed my book) but it is a much more efficient way to do any breathing exercises. I use this technique throughout the day -- to destress, relax my muscles, ease pain, get into a meditave state or to fall asleep. In my opinion, I don't think it is harmful to do it whenever the need arises. I have only notice positive results, no matter how many times I do it. Glad to hear that Cheney recommends this technique for PWCs (THANK YOU CAROL!) Don't forget to breathe!!! Bzzz... From: WeebsterCA@... Subject: Anybody know if the breathing method Cheney is recommending (inhale four seconds, hold seven, exhale for eight, eight times, twice daily) would produce better results if done more often than twice a day, or if the breath was held for even longer? Is more better? - B.
Guest guest
He said that you can hold the breath longer but not if it feels like a struggle. He then exaggerated holding his breath until he gasped for air and said don't do that. >Anybody know if the breathing method Cheney is recommending (inhale four >seconds, hold seven, exhale for eight, eight times, twice daily) would >produce better results if done more often than twice a day, or if the breath >was held for even longer? Guest guest
It sounds like Butyeko breathing technique. They reccomend starting lightly - just as Cheney does, and working your way up. There are web sites out there. >From: " Rauhofer " <donnie11@...> >Reply-egroups ><egroups> >Subject: RE: Cheney breathing - is more better? >Date: Thu, 16 Nov 2000 09:38:26 -0500 > >, > >I have been using this breathing method for about 5 years when I read about >it in Dr. Anrew Weil's book, Spontaneous Healing.
