Dear Forum,

Kurnool district is located in Rayelasema in AP. Basically this district is

drought prone and one of the poorest in AP. When ever rains fail many men

migrate to Mumbai for employement where they get infected with HIV and carry it

back to their villages to infect the women. In order to determine the incidence

of HIV infection in villages a coordinated approach between UNDP and private

organization called " Global Health Care " is being carried out.UNDP has many

volunteers and they go around the villages trying to identify the high risk

groups. They also educate the people in villages about HIV.

I am Madhukar and I am a physician and I have worked in New York for 10 years.

I am sort of coordinator between UNDP in Kurnool distirct and " Global Health

Care " .We plan to screen about 5000 villagers in the next 6 months. In addition

to HIV screening, every individual will have fasting and postprandial blood

sugars,Hb,TC,DC,ESR, and Chest x-ray.

Anyone who has done similar studies, please contact me or anyone interested in

participating in this project may also contact me.
