Phoenix, You might consider Sparx, at www.krysalis-sparx.com I don't think sublingual is practical, because of the sheer amount of material you need to absorb to get optimum daily amounts of the essential nutrients. Sparx is a powder that you mix with a drink, and was designed by a chemical engineer to get the nutrients in the smallest mass of total material that was practically possible. It's hard to beat the price, considering the amount of the nutrients that you get. I'm not financially involved with Sparx. Rich
Guest guest
Hi everyone. My doctor needs an article - a real medical article - stating that people with CFS often have absorption problems. I know it, you know it, we all know it but my doctor knows zilch about CFS, most people in this country where I live (Israel) know zilch about CFS, and she needs such an article to cover herself with her superiors. Why? because I am taking iron supplements for low ferritin which are being absorbed very slowly (but the ferritin is finally going up!) and with the amounts that I am taking she needs approval from her supervisors to give me a prescription. I go to a private specialist who prescribed this but he can't give me the prescription from my HMO equivalent. Anyhow, any help in this matter would be welcome and it must be a " real " article in a peer reviewed journal, not something by Cheney and company which may be fine and dandy but no one here will accept it as proof of anything. By the way, I have been tested for celiac and came back fine, had colonoscopies and endoscopies four years ago and came back fine, no occult bleeding, just heavy periods...and I have been off gluten for 6 months and the iron absorption hasn't changed one bit, but my ferritin has gone up from 18 at its lowest to 37 last time I checked. My internist wants me to get to 70 and then we can stop for a while... Thanks, Judy
Guest guest
Judy, I'm in the same boat as you. My doc called yesterday to tell me that my ferritin is down to 3 (again). I don't have heavy periods, I eat plenty of red meat, liver etc. It takes 3-4 months of high iron supplements to get back up to 50, but it will go back down to single digits within 6 months. I'm very frustrated by this. My doc thinks I should take " maintenance " doses regularly to prevent my ferritin from dropping so low. I will keep looking for some good info regarding absorption and I'll pass it along if I find some. So far no luck. Guest guest
I don't think you will find any articles about poor absorption in CFS. It is true, but after four years of reading everything I can, I haven't seen a study. What you *might* find is an article from the CFIDS chronicle from an expert who says PWCs have poor absorption. However, I wanted to let you know that my ferritin was low also, and after a year or so it went back to normal. So, FWIW, maybe your body will adjust on its own if you eat the proper diet. Maybe non animal sources of ferritin/iron would absorb better. Just a thought. Mike C > Judy, > I'm in the same boat as you. Guest guest
Mike, I found these articles on the Cancer Support Assosiation of Austrailia regarding iron and magnesium deficiencies regarding malabsorption and CFS. Interesting. http://cancersupportwa.org.au/Spotlight/index.htm Nat > > > Judy, > > I'm in the same boat as you. My doc called yesterday to tell me > that > > my ferritin is down to 3 (again). Guest guest
Thanks Nat. When i clicked on your hyperlink, it just took me to the home page of 'cancer support'. I think the full URL was cut off due to the advertisement. Could you possibly be so kind as to send me the URL back channel? Otherwise, it would be helpful in getting 'directions' to the articles that you are referring to. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
Thanks for the link. There are some good articles on minerals and digestion. I recommend everyone read these articles. Some good information here. It supports my approach to helping people reverse FMS. The 9th person just started my program and my guess is her results will be as good as the previous eight. I'll be posting her results on my web site as she progresses (it will be a couple weeks yet).
