Guest guest
Dear Friends and forum members, Greetings from Goa! I would like to introduce my self as a Jaffer Inamder; working as Program Coordinator for project positive health at FXB. I would like to share my concerns about Goa VCT center based in Goa Medical College, which is a very popular hospital in Goa. The centre is managed by Goa State AIDS Control Society. Several times I visited the centre to network with counselors who are working at the VCTC for referral system and to follow up my cases. Several requests have been made by the counselors to relocate the centre site at safe space, non-stigmatizing and non-discriminatory place. This centre has been located at crowded place near the Blood collection and OPD unit with other patients waiting for general testing. This in fact creates a lot of disturbance and distracts the counselor as wells as the clients. They feel un comfortable in such a setting, where people have fear of loosing their confidentialty during the counseling session. It has also been learnt that recently, the NACO representatives visited the centre, but they failed to observe the settings of the VCTC. I personally feel that it is not an appropriate place for an activity like counselling. As I am concerned about the issue I like your suggestion, how to advocate on the issue of maintaining client confidentiality and comfort. Looking forward for your cooperation a positive response. Thanking you Solidarity Jaffer Inamder Program Coordinator (FXB) FXB – India/Goa.
