Guest guest
thanks so much for the information. I hate to think of good scientist and clinicians wasting their time on the issue of a name change. If the name must be change a health marketing organization could come up with a better name. Because right now it is a public relations issue not a scientific one. How can we come up with a name that will communicate to the medical community and the public at large that this is a serious disease that causes disability. The only problem is it has taken years for CFS to become an accepted disease (I realize the name had something to do with this problem). With a new name you have got to start all over. I think science will produce different names when different subtypes of the disease are fully understood. As for the individual it depends on the circumstance. With Social Security they have very specific criteria for disability under CFS. In my own case my private LTD said flat out that they would not accept CFS as the sole cause of disability but they would accept the diagnosis associated with the neuro psych exam. Dementia is actually a very simple DX and completely apart from AD. The definition of dementia in both the ICD-9 code book and the 'DSM-IV is a decline in intellectual functioning significant enough to cause impairment in social or occupational functioning. It is kind of funny because if you have CFS and you are an engineer you have dementia. But if you if you have CFS and you are the person at Wal-Mart that says " Welcome to WalMart " when folks walk through the door you do not have dementia (although you might get it on the social side). So at the individual level an individual can use whatever diagnosis work for them in a given social situation. When I am on a date (which is rare) I say head injury because you cannot catch a head injury. So far it has not worked so if anyone has any other ideas along those lines please back channel me. AND THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION ON Isoprinosine I WILL SHARE IT WITH MY IMMUNOLOGIST. IS ANYONE HERE BEING HELPED IN TERM ON TESTING OR TREATMENT BY A IMMUNOLOGIST. THANKS AGAIN Steve
