Guest guest
Just last night I was reading about B 12 in blue green algaes, and that B12 in blue green algaes was a myth. The form of B12 in blue green algaes like Spirolina, Chlorella, etc., is a form that is not usable by the human body. And one web site actually made the claim that using blue green algaes can actually block your bodies ability to use B 12 because the B 12 look-alikes that blue green algaes contain take up the same receptor sites or whatever they are that B12 would take up, leaving no room for B12. Since blue green algaes are often used by Vegans as a B12 source, they are actually creating B12 deficiencies in themselves, rather than supporting B12 levels. Having said all that, I'm not an expert, and the web sites that I was reading this information on were not necessarily reliable. I'm only passing on something I heard (rumor) that might invite further investigation. If it turns out to be untrue, which there is the possibility, then I apologize in advance. However, if it turns out to be true, it is certainly worth knowing. lindaj@... Guest guest
I really am not sure if I would agree with that.I have been taking b12 shots twice a week for a long time and i really can feel B12 deficiency. If I have forgotten my weekly B12 shot I was starting to have more brain fog. My apatite was decreasing and I was starting to loose weight. I was of course feeling more exhausted.About 3 months ago I had an infection and I started using Chlorella again to help me with the infection. Surprisingly,I noticed that my B12 deficiency symptoms disappeared and I did not have any B12 shots since than. How can we explain that?Just my two cents. Guest guest
I'm about to start taking a chlorella supplement recommended by my naturopath, so it sounds encouraging to me. I'm also currently doing B-12 shots, and I can really feel when I'm becoming deficient. I hope I have similar results. It would be nice to not need to have to do shots so often. Like I said, I was only passing on what I had read on web sites, and I can't answer for the validity of them. There's a lot of garbage out on the internet. I was hesitant to believe what I read, simply because it didn't quite vibe with what seems to make sense to me. But every time I turn around I'm learning something new that contradicts something I've known for a long time, so I'm not sure what to believe anymore. I pass things along in hopes that someone else may either validate it or correct it. Sounds like clorella either doesn't fit the same profile as other blue-green algaes, or the information I read wasn't right. lindaj@... Dear Nil; If I may jump into this discussion; I have nothing specific to add about Chlorella, but about getting " better " and then worse. I have been clearly and chronically ill for about 22-23 yrs, and it has been an up-and-down business all that time. When I first started getting " better " it was due to using supplements. Throughout the course of the " ups " I always exerted myself to the fullest, and then finally overdid it and crashed, until the last " down. " The last time I really got bad, and stayed down for years. Now, back on the way up again, thanks to-finally!-the addition of b12 shots, I think I have finally learned the game. I now go to bed and have quiet days BEFORE I absolutely have to! I am convinced that there is, so far, no " cure " for this, and although there may be things that improve us, just because they are not actually cures doen't mean that they are masking the real problem. I just think the real problem is more complicated than that. It may be that the reason the chlorrela no longer helped you is because you were sicker than when it did. Although I by no means think this disease is " caused " by our lifestyles, in my case I really, through ignorance and lack of temperance, made everything worse and worse, by trying to live normally when I was not in fact normal. Hope this helps. Adrienne
Guest guest
Yes ,but At this point I felt a need to say that I am not sure if Chlorella is helpful in the long run for us. I think it does help with B12 deficiency and that was what I only wanted to point out at my previous note. I can not say for sure that Chlorella is helping us with our illness. May be it may be helpful for a short term but not sure about the long term effects. Not sure but just wanted to share this with you.Let me explain you why I think this way.In the beginning of 1999 my sickness started to progress. I suddenly started having vision problems and more exhaustion. Chlorella was prescribed me by an ayurvedist at that time and it really gave me a big hit.I started feeling much better after starting to use it and was able to continue working.2000-3000mg per day. It was really wonderful. People around me were noticing the difference in me and they were also surprised. This went on for about a year or a year and 3-4 months time. Than I again started feeling worse and this time and it did not help me much. Finally I was about bed bound by the end of 2000. I am not sure if Chlorella postponed my worsening about a year time and it was helpful or if it did help me in the short term but not in the long term because it covered the real problem. As I told you before I am not sure which is correct. Just brain storming. Take care..
