Hi Hud and Jackie,

I too take ativan but only in the evenings -- 1 to 1.5 milligrams. I don't

mean to be a spoil sport or a " Just Say No'er " but ativan, and all the

benzodiazepines in general are extremely addictive and I really advise

caution. The scariest part is that with time most people develop tolerance

and need a larger dose just to get the same effect.

Kava, an herbal alternative, has been shown to cause liver damage, and I'm

wondering if anyone knows of a less addictive alternative to the benzos. I'd

like to get off the ativan but sleepless nights really do me in.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this group and don't know what's wrong with me, mostly

headaches and tiredness, sometimes anxiety and no appetite.

I've been taking klonopin .5 dose. I take 1/2 at bed and when I get

anxious during the day, I try 1/4 at first and then add the second 1/4.

I'm so afraid of being addicted because I'm taking vicoden, too.

The klonopin doesn't hurt my stomach. I have generic, but after

listening to everyone, I'll get the real thing next time to see if it's

different. Kava hurts my stomach. St. 's Wort seems to exacerbate

migraines. I'd love to find something nonaddictive. Having the klonopin

around is really a safety valve that I enjoy because I'd let my anxiety

get worse if I thought I had nothing in the house to help me when I get

scared from the anxiety. Then it would escalate.
