Guest guest
Hi, Ever since I went on doxycycline (for just 2 weeks) several months ago for my CFS, I have been sick. I am not saying that the doxycycline started it but it sure did co-incide. I have had a kidney infection and while I was on antibiotics for it, developed shortness of breath which was undiagnosed even when I went to an ER three weeks ago and said something is very wrong. They took a medical history and when they learned that I had been sick for 18 years sort of blew me off even though I tried to tell them that my chest wall pain (I've been ddiagnosed with chronic costochondritis) was MUCH worse than ever. Last Sunday I woke up gasping for air, went to the ER again and said I'm not leaving until I have a diagnosis. Was there for 3 days and diagnosed with congestive heart failure. This is a total shock for me because the only risk factor I have is my father's history of heart disease -- otherwise I don't fit the profile as my blood pressure is 110/70, cholesterol is 125, I am not overweight, have no edema, am an exerciser (in fact on the treadmill alone my heart looked great; fortunately they did some nuclear scans before and after walking on the treadmill which showed the problem). This may be the result of a systemic infection and not a coincidence that it began with the kidney infection (I have lupus-like antibodies though haven't been diagnosed with full-fledged lupus). In any case my own feeling is that something happened when I took the doxycycline that started off a chain reaction of illness and I really caution anyone who is considering taking antibiotics to carefully research the possible side effects. I know this will anger the people on a certain list that is devoted to taking antibiotics but it is my experience. Sincerely, Bonnie

Guest guest
Some people with CFS do have yeast problems. Others (like me) do not. In fact, I had a tiny bit and it went away with antibiotics. I have heard this from many people, especially those on doxycycline. I don't know if doxy acts as an anti-fungal, or if improving the immune system just allows it to kill off the yeast. Some of the symptoms of lyme and CFS are the same. Some people with CFS have lyme. But did the lyme cause the CFS or do you get lyme because your immune system is working because of the CFS? The problem with saying CFS = lyme is that many people with CFS also have other viruses and bacterias. Lyme is only one of a dozen common ones. Guest guest
Got better from what? You have to remember that people with CFS have all different things. Some have bacteria, some have viruses, some have yeast, some have mercury. Antibiotics would only be necessary if you have a bacteria. Guest guest
i guess i figured if we all have cfs we all have the same thing. --- Doris Brown <dorisbrown9@...> wrote: > Got better from what? I suffer severely from tendinitis myself and am considering taking doxycycline so I would really like to know if there is a risk of making my tendinitis worse. Does anyone else have experiences with tendinitis? Thank you in advance, Kind regards, Lene
