Re: Experience with H Pylori?

I've had stomach/gut problems for 45 years, and CFS for 14. I recently had

a gastroscopy and breath tests and both found HUGE H Pylori infection. I

have taken triple therapy around 10 times in the last few years without

knowing whether it worked or not, just because it happened to be the same

as some of the antibitoic treatments in Dr Jadin's protocols for Rickettsias.

Obviously I never got rid of H Pylori.

I have not got severe physical distortions due to past ulcerations, and

because I noticed I felt a lot better after triple therapy, I conclude that

the HP affects me badly, so I have jsut tried to get rid of it again.

My doc suggested the old fashioned triple therapy, with Bismuth for 3

weeks, then Tetracycline and Flagyl. I said this seemed silly because I am

bound to have HP resistant to Flagyl by now, and he said that may be true,

but his experience is that this combo still works best, so long as you are

serious about keeping to your pill popping schedule, especially with the

Bismuth.

So far so good, but being a man of little faith I have also added a couple

of things - I am taking Mastic which seems unarguably to kill/maim HP, and

I am going to add Ferritin, and maybe coconut oil and maybe Manuka

Honey. All of these are reported to affect/kill HP. I didn't mix any of

them with the triple therapy since no-one really knows how they word and

they might interfere.

I think HP might be commonly a big problem for CFS sufferers, along with

all the other infections that we are subject to. In my case certainly,

when I knock the HP down, I am 1000% better.

My main suggestion - use Mastic. I have a file on it if you want.

Cheers,

n

Hi Jane,

I was succesfully treated with antibiotics for H. Pylori a couple of

years ago, but I can't remember which antibiotic it was. I can find

out.

This was my first experience with herxing and it was challenging,

perhaps the antibiotics were working against the H. pylori and

mycoplasma, which I was treated for afterwards.

Hi,

I was succesfully treated for h.pylori last summer, I took

Clarithymiacin, Flagyl and Losec for 10 days. It took a month after

taking the abxs to feel better.

n,

A friend of mine here in France (with Lyme) has also discovered that she has

HP, and she was told the best combo of abx was

Amoxi-Tinidazole-Clarithromycin (macrolide), apparently that's what they

give here in France to fight HP infections.

Good luck

I had the Comprehensive Digestive Analysis by Great Smokies done initially.

I had a lot of the H.Pylori Bacteria & not enough good bacteria. My Dr.

Sugessted the Mastic Gum. I took it less than a week instead of the 2 weeks

he prescribed because of allergic reactions to it.

I tried some Aloe Vera But had allergic reactions to it after the second

dosage.

Many years ago I was able to cure an Ulcer with drinking it for 2 weeks

He tested me again & said the level of bacteria was much lower. He also

prescribed the Trenev Trio which I had taken in the past. I did some of the

Manuka Honey & have been doing 6 Trenev trio a day & I have not gotten

another test done yet.

I plan to as soon as I can though & the Dr. wants to do it

The Mastic Gum is very effective if you can tolerate it.

I am just really sensitive to most things.

I have been afraid to take a lot of the Manuka Honey because of that &

because I need to stay off sweets in order to keep my systemic Candida under

control.

I think that if I could have tolerated the Mastic Gum I would have been able

to completely get rid of it. That or the correct dosage of the Manuka Honey

made from Tea Tree Oil is very effective also.

Good Luck

Hi n. What kind of gut problem did/do you have? The more

detail the better so that the rest of us can compare our symptoms

to yours in an effort to see if H.Pylori may be a problem.

Thanks Nelly - just to confirm are you saying THREE abx? I have never

heard of 3 abx at a time before.

Hi Cbuf1920,

Did you do any testing to confirm H Pylori gone, or did you just notice

that you lost your symptoms? I am trying to differentiate between killing

H Pylori, and fixing ulcers etc.

Thanks,

n

Hi Mike - long time no hear! -

My gut problems have been continuous on and off since I was a child. In

summary...

Regular cramp-like pain, and regular ulcer-like pain

CHronic IBS or diarrhea

Recurring duodenal ulcers

Bloating

Food intolerances

Food not digested properly, passing in undigested form at times

Now I have severe scarring and a partially blocked duodenum, and

" pseudo-diverticulosis "

I am just kicking myself for not being tested for HP much earlier. My

infestation is apparently huge, and I already feel fantastically better

after my first month of treatment. DOctor says symptoms can remain for

months after eradicating HP, so I am happy with results so far.

Let me know if you learn anything

n

By the way, I mentioned Ferritin in last email, this is a MISTAKE, I meant

Lactoferrin which in its low-iron form apparently is great for reducing HP

and generally improving all sorts of gut things.

Jane,

One of the functions of gastric acid is to destroy bacteria. Since

you report having a problem with H. Pylori bacteria infestation, I am

guessing that you probably have had a long period of acid reflux. Is

this correct?

If yes, how have you been dealing with the reflux? antacids?

further raising stomach pH and allowing a condition for bacterial

growth?

All the best,

Jim

Hi Jim,

No, actually that is not one of the symptoms I suffer with. I never

touch antacids. I would think I am low on HCI rather than high on it.

But from what I have been reading, H Pylori is a bacteria that is

acid resistant. So I guess that makes it more difficult.
