Dear Friends,

The 1st death anniversary of Ashok Pillai, co-founder and former President INP+

falls on the 19th of April. Ashok's leadership transformed INP+ from a self help

group to an advocacy-based organization of people living with HIV in India. He

was public about his HIV status and was one of the foremost advocates for people

living with HIV.

I invite those of you who knew Ashok or know about Ashok to an informal

get-together at...

#10, Kash Towers,

South West Boag Road,

T. Nagar

Chennai - 17

It will be a time of meeting together and focussing on the vision that Ashok

had. We will begin at 1 pm as this was when Ashok had his seizure and go on till

4.30 pm, the time of his passing away. If you do not live in Chennai or are

unable to join us on the 19th, you can light a candle / lamp at 1 am and keep it

burning until 4.30 pm as a sign of remembrance.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 19th.

Regards,

K.K. Abraham

President, INP+

Dear Abraham,

How time flies! It was only like yesterday for me when I met Ashok,a vibrant

young man, full of life, taking up the cause which nobody before him did so

effectively. His demise left a void in my heart which is difficult to fillup.Even

though I am not in the AIDS circuit for some time,I thought I should share my

feelings with you and wish you all success in carrying the task ahead.

I won't be physically present in the meeting, but my thoughts are always

with you.

regards,

Prasada Rao

Dear Abraham,

I could not come for the meeting but Ashok was such a person whose memory will

remain forever with me. He was a unique person, and a very special one too, in

so many ways. And I believe that he transformed the lives of those he came in

contact with and taught them to live. His real magic was the energy about him

and his enthusiasm. He was full of ideas and had the strength to take them to

people. I had developed a special bond with Ashok while working with him to put

together a book that could explain the ground realities of HIV/AIDS situation.

Ashok had so much to give and his absence will be always felt by me and all

those who knew him.
