Guest guest
I've been taking 1400 mg glutathione IVs every ~3 weeks and they have helped tremendously (as I've previously posted). But, since Nov, I've also started taking 250 mg of glutathione suppositories (sp?) daily. (My current doctor won't prescribe injections although I've had no problem with them in the past.) Taking glutathione daily has helped tremendously as the bad days are more tolerable (less headache, can move around longer, less brainfog, etc.) I also believe this shortens my recovery time crashes (from weeks to days). While I've never had ATP added, I've found IV's, injections and suppositories to be effective. Pills did not help me. Rich: Since you have done considerable research on glutathione, I was wondering if you know of any risk from high and / or prolonged use of glutathione. I fear I'm turning into a glutathione junkie I'm wondering if it is safe to take 1400 mg IVs every 3-4 weeks (doing this for over 1 year) in addition to daily suppositories of 250 mg. Thanks Al c. >In the archives, message 42043 talks about intramuscular injections >of glutathione/ATP. Guest guest
Al, According to the PDR for Nutritional Supplements, " There have been no reports of glutathione overdosage in the literature. " Since glutathione is a small molecule, I suspect that it is easily filtered out of the blood by the kidneys. In the kidneys, the gamma glutamyl cycle is more active than at any other place in the body. This cycle is the one that retrieves glutathione, disassembles it, and imports the pieces into the cells, where they can be reassbled. If there is more glutathione in the filtrate from the blood than can be utilized by the kidneys, I think it would just pass out in the urine. Because of this, I don't think there is a problem with overdosage, but as I mentioned above, there is no information in the literature about it. " Absence of proof is not proof of absence, " but I suspect that if there were a serious problem, it would have come to light, because glutathione has been available for quite a while.
