Guest guest
Bob, Sorry to contradict you but there was a difference btwn the generic doxy that the person took and the Vibramycin she took at a different time. One (the doxy generic) was doxycycline hyclate whereas the Vibramycin was a Vibramycin-N which is doxycycline monohydrate. I looked into it and I did find out that there might be a slight difference in absorption levels btwn the two formulations. The person was only taking 200mg/day (which is low for late stage Lyme and co-infections) the slight difference in blood levels might make a big difference. I can't be sure but I suspect that had she been on a higher dose (300mg or 400mg) she might not have noticed any difference. Or maybe she would've ) PS in France some doxy generics are monohydrate but I think in most countries it is hyclate, in fact Vibramycin has both hyclate (Vibramycin) and monohydrate (Vibramycin-N). I am taking Vibramycin-N (400mg) and it is doing the job as far as I can tell. It is meant to be easier on the stomach Nelly PS: I think the initial post about the difference btwn generic and vibra was on another list
