Guest guest Posted January 16, 2004 Report Share Posted January 16, 2004 POPULATION SERVICES INTERNATIONAL'S NEW STI PREVENTION PROJECT ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST ROUND OF RECRUITMENT FOR TRAINING AND SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS Population Services International (PSI) is a non-profit and non- governmental organization established in 1988 with a mandate to assist the Government of India in the fields of reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, and maternal and child health. PSI is currently implementing a five-year sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention and treatment program across India. This program is being implemented across National Highways #1-9 and in rural and urban districts of the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with the core technical team coordinating the activities from New Delhi. The project will improve the quality and availability of STI treatment by establishing a formal network of private sector health care providers trained in STI management. The training and support team members (TSTs) are the foundation of PSI's new program. Each team will be comprised of three members, including at least two MBBS doctors and they will report to the State Franchise Manager. The TSTs will be given extensive training in all aspects of their work and will be supported by state and national level teams. Responsibilities include: ·Mapping of territories to select health care providers for training. ·Recruiting qualified health care providers for a network. ·Planning all aspects of health care providers' STI management trainings. ·Assessing the skills of health care providers – identify " model " providers. ·Conducting training and support visits to health care providers. ·Maintaining accurate records of visits, and sending correct data to state offices via internet/data entry each week. ·Monitoring and evaluating provider compliance with program. ·Suggesting improvements in training program based on information gathered during support visits. ·Working with the training team to incorporate changes and make improvements. Requirements: • Completed MBBS from nationally recognized university • Completed first year of internship • Commitment to community service work • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications • Ability to work in both a team and independently • Ability to sign a contract for 2 years • Ability to work in both English and local language • Willingness to work in both rural and urban settings • Ability to drive a two wheeler (license required) •Willingness to travel to attend training twice a year For further information on this position or an application form please email tstapplication@...
