Guest guest
Dear List members, 2004 is now well and truly upon us. I am as concerned about disposal but more concerned about medical blood procedures where HIV is concerned only because of the fragility of the virus after it leaves its host. I am informed that is fatally sensitive to temperatures varying by more than 3 degrees and also exposure to air. Disposal is the low and well nigh impossible end of the transmissability spectrum for HIV although there is evidence that carcinogens and the ranges of hepatitis can still be problematic. That is my contribution to the disposal debate and it also goes towards the need to educate that even though one becomes HIV +ve it is not automatic for the progression to AIDS and to death. Knowledge of course is the key before the existing immune system has been totally destroyed by stealth of the Virus and ignorance of its new Host.
