Guest guest
Female condom is expensive ofcourse but what happened after words if some one become HIV+ or catches STI, its greater cost afterowrds tan one you use for primary precausion/prevension. We have been using female condoms in Australia for few years and its a very good succes with in escort agencies. Let supply females with condom give them choice rather than treating them. Guest guest
Dear All It is interesting to see this articly published in Times News Network. I had managed to obtain 100 female condoms with some considerable difficulty from organisations in UK in 1999. The difficulty in acquiring them was because even in UK female condoms were apparently not successful or popular. Some reported difficulties were that they were uncomfortable and inconvenient in using. I had ofcourse not tried to acquire them for my own use but for purpose of distribution to women in Tamil Nadu to support them in protecting themselves against HIV. My argument was that female condoms will be powerful not only in providing protection directly but also in empowering them to be successful in persuading their partners to use male condoms. In the sense that even if they were inconvenient in using, women could show the female condom and suggest that she would use it if her male partner refused to use a condom. However at that time even doctors in some well known hospitals in Tamil Nadu were not aware of the existence of the female condom. Hence it is hartening that this issue being discussed and supported. In spite of its reported difficulties, i would strongly advocate for their promotion especially for prevention of HIV/AIDS & STDs. Ruth Kattumuri E-mail: r_katts@... Guest guest
Dear All, I am a practicing HIV Consultant at Surat,Gujarat-India. Few months back I was looking for a good alternative to male condoms for My STD patients in my private & hospital practice. I made a questionnaires for My male & female patients. To my surprise both were in favor of something like a female Condom if possible-in place of male condoms. I had surveyed nearly 300 patients & almost 68 % has this opinion.so I think in India also if properly trained, female Condoms should work. Is there any source where I can have female Condoms for My STD patients ?
