Thanks for outing me Peg ;)

Zippy is indeed in Tennessee.

Unfortunately, I don't know of

any doctors in East Tennessee,

who are good CFS docs.

I felt I had to fly to Dallas/

Fort Worth to recieve adequate

care.

http://www.cfidsdoc.com

Over the years, I have had a

very difficult time finding a

local doctor who would even see

a case of CFS, much less try to

do anything for me.

I was told (by a doctor) that

most doctors don't know as much

about CFS as their patients do.

They find this personally embarrassing.

Too, due to financial concerns

they have to see a patient every

15 minutes. Thus, they don't want

to have to deal with complicated

cases like CFS. In fact, they can't

afford to.

When I saw Dr. Cheney/ Dr. Sharp

they spent ~ 3 hours with me/ visit.

I think this is what is required for a

case of CFS. But, naturally, it is

expensive.

I would add one other thing, that

others have hinted at. Unless you can

get to a top doc, who will spend hours

with you at a strech, going over your

case (in other words, just let the

meter run), then you must remember,

this system is almost like being in

a court of law. It is an adversarial

system. The system, and the people in

it, are NOT your friends. You will have

to be proactive and vigilante to keep

it from taking advantage of, or neglecting

you, as the case may be. That is the

way things are.

Be wary of doctors who run tests

from their office. They

are almost certainly getting a kick

back on this, which doubles the price.

Contracting privately with the lab, and

then paying up front for the test is

usually the cheapest way to go.

Also, be wary of doctors who push

their supplements on you. It is often

better to buy them on them open market,

like from Beyond A Century, or NEEDS.

However, if you do happen to find a good

CFS doc in East Tennessee, I would

be pleased to hear about it. You

can backchannel me, of course.

Best,

Zippy (in Tennessee ;)
