Kolkata: Maya Fashion Drama on HIV Positive individuals

A Fashion Drama - " Maya " was held recently at Swabhumi, Kolkata where the plight

of HIV positive individuals, especially women was showcased through a unique

programme. The drama took the audience down the ages, right from the time when

women were revered and treated as a man's equal to the present when not only

are women comodified bur shunned by society because of their HIV+ status. Also

touching upon the celebration of love & sexuality in Indian art and culture, the

spectacle sought to emphasise on the need to talk about sex and sexuality with

the younger generation.

" Maya " was a praiseworthy attempt of West Bengal state AIDS Control & Prevention

Society where leading models of Kolkata & members of a renouned Dance Troupe

came forward to work for the cause of spreading awareness message on HIV/AIDS

from a different perspective.
