Kamasutra minus cap for Bihar

Bihar Governor Jois wouldn't give his nod for any campaign on use of

condoms to stem AIDS.

PATNA: Advocating the use of condoms in sex might be the most

important job of the government officials responsible for preventing

AIDS . Bihar governor M Rama Jois would not give his nod for any such

campaign, though.

" This is like the story of a person taking bribe but not without

wearing gloves... Condom may be a remedy but it is also encouraging

immoral sex in the society, " Jois said while inaugurating a seminar

on " AIDS ka gyan, bachaye jaan " .

The seminar was organised here by Peoples for Health and Environment

(PHE) on Tuesday.

According to Jois, condoms might save one physically, but not

morally. While appealing to men to treat every woman (other than

their wives) as mother, the governor said AIDS could be checked by

measures more " cultural " than " medical " . " For the sake of temporary

pleasure, don't fall in a situation of permanent miseries , " he said.

Speaking on the occasion, convenor of Parliamentary Forum on HIV/AIDS

Fernandes, MP, said AIDS-control programmes cannot yield

results without creating awareness among the people. " Bihar does not

figure on the AIDS map of the country. But one knows what is the

truth, " he said, adding a large number of labourers migrate to other

states from Bihar.

State Assembly Speaker Sadanand Singh assured Fernandes that the

state would extend all cooperation in the campaign for creating

awareness about the Aids menace. Dr Dilip Sen, who also spoke on the

occasion, said, " the situation is very dangerous. "

While maintaining that reports are collected from only two

laboratories in Bihar for preparing figures on HIV cases, Dr Sen said

the authorities should also turn their attention to private labs.
