The Community Forum has always been an integral part of all the ICAAP as it provides a critical platform for grassroots communities to network, to share community issues and concerns and to build and strengthen their skills and capacities. With the next International World AIDS Conference XV to be held in Bangkok in June 2004, the postponement of the 7th ICAAP removed a crucial opportunity for the community sector to identify and discuss current issues which could then be channeled as a joint community response to the International World AIDS Conference, Bangkok 2004. This event is planned for approximately 100 participants, from 12-14 January 2004 and will be held in a central location in Bangkok, Thailand. Participants will mainly comprise of community representatives working in various sectors such as care and treatment, harm reduction, sex work, migration, gender and sexuality, youth, human rights and GIPA. Geographic representation will also be a consideration. The tentative programme will include: As such the Coalition of Asia Pacific Regional Networks on HIV/AIDS (Seven Sisters Coalition) is organizing an alternative Community Forum to be held in mid-January 2004 in Bangkok. - Structured theme-based group-work, eg situational analysis, identifying emerging issues, etc. -Developing appropriate actions to prepare communities for meaningful participation and to enable community concerns to be addressed at Bangkok 2004 -Skills-building sessions eg. access to treatment, GIPA and gender and sexuality Date: January 12, 2004 - January 14, 2004 Venue: Bangkok Contact Information: Email: apcaso@... http://www.plwha.org/Folder.2003-08-09.2206/Alternative%20Asia% 20Pacific%20Community%20Forum
