Guest guest
Dear Friends, Please view Amnesty International's recent Urgent Action to protect HIV/AIDS Outreach workers in India: Take Action! http://takeaction.amnestyusa.org/action/index.asp?step=2 & item=2568 Put an End to Police Harassment of HIV/AIDS Outreach Workers in India 3.97 million people were living with HIV/AIDS in India by the end of 2001, making it the country with the second highest number of infections in the world. Programs that provide information, condoms, and HIV testing to persons who engage in high-risk behavior are therefore crucial to preventing the further spread of the disease. Such programs are, however, undermined by police harassment and abuse of HIV/AIDS outreach workers. http://takeaction.amnestyusa.org/action/index.asp?step=2 & item=2568 Regards, Joya Banerjee E-mail: <joya.banerjee@...>
