Guest guest
I know Gabe Mirkin treats his patients who have Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, bleeding ulcers in the intestines and colon with antibiotics. My niece's stomach ulcers were treated successfully with antibiotics too. She developed Crohn's which her husband has had for 20 years which resulted in him having dramatic surgery to remove part of his intestines. She was cured with a regimen of antibiotics. Makes you wonder about the infectious theory here too, doesn't it? The Mirkin Report ofJan/99 addresses this issue on the front page. I wasn't aware that these diseases were being treated as autoimmune and patients given Methotrexate, prednisone and all the usual garbage. Hope you get some answers from your doctor. Bev rheumatic (no subject) >From: " , Pat " <pkeith@...> > > Has anyone been diagnosed with stomach ulcers? Where did your pain occur? I understand it is most often between the breastbone and the navel. Mine is mostly on the left side beneath the rib. I am wondering if it may be something else in addition to the ulcers which the doctor saw. Guest guest
Connie - For your first visit to Dr. G, write down all of your questions ahead of time because, if you're like me, you might get flustered and forget half the stuff you wanted to ask. As for " natural " antioxidants, Dr. Goldberg frowns on giving any supplements other than reputable children's vitamins, and he is very leary of " natural " products, because of possibly unknown effects on our kids. The first blood draw is pretty massive. We got some EMLA cream and put it on the needle sites about half an hour before the blood draw, covered with tape. I asked the nurse to place a VCR right in front of the table, and we brought along my daughter's favorite video to watch while the blood was being drawn. The monitor was about two feet away so it was a great distraction. Also, we brought a favorite snack for her to munch on that she doesn't get very often - raisins, in our case. Good luck - you're going in the right idrection.
Guest guest
Blood work is never fun and there are so many tests to be done but they are all important. Each one provides information and direction to help in the decision making of what meds to use. Once your child is on the protocol there will be periodic bloodwork but it is all worth it! Guest guest
Sorry you got some rude responses. Most people on this list are very nice and helpful but some get tired of repeating things. I recently detailed progress we've seen and will repost it for you: <<Yes! I also had to chelate very high levels of arsenic, aluminum and cadmium. I've had significant improvement in health and functioning. All gone now: extreme tired spells (like narcolepsy), constant fatique, difficulty concentrating, brain fog, difficulty remembering the right words to say, slurring of words, difficulty making eye contact or keeping eyes focused, allergic to everything, constant sinus and bladder trouble, difficulty digesting things, clumsiness (ok, I still have bouts of this sometimes, hee hee), constant need to clear throat, lack of desire and motivation, major phobias and fears, dizziness, mood swings, etc etc. Also major hormonal imbalances nearing correction. >> My son started chelating when he was 6 (he's now 9) and he's had improvements in all areas. Specifically, I've seen the following improvements since then: -Used to be overwhelmed by crowds and noise -- now seeks out events and social gatherings. - Major burst in conversational language, ability to discuss things and share things that are important to him - Significant lessening in visual problems, was unable to converge his eyes, had blind spots, couldn't track now most of visual problems are gone - Major allergies and sensativities now lessened -- we've been able to add back some foods he was allergic to - Significant increase in muscle tone, strength, dexterity and stamina - Digestive and stool problems almost gone (used to alternate between constipation and loose stools) - Seizures almost gone - Much more aware and involved in life, able to focus on school work now, memory problems significantly lessened I'm sure there is more. One important thing to note is that we have done other therapies along with chelation, which I think is very important since you have to rebuild what the child has lost. Best wishes, Gaylen
Guest guest
Well now, we are ALL very busy and struggling and digging deep withing ourselves to come up with the strength to handle the day-to-day of bringing up an autistic child. But as parents, that's our job. Again, I encourage you to look through the archives until you have specific questions. Can you share with us a little information about your son's progress so far? How old is he? Is he on any special diets? Is he physically or sensory delayed? Is he verbal? All of this information will be helpful for us to answer some of your questions. Please be patient and stay with it. Chelation is worth every moment of your time. [ ] (no subject) I made a polite request for chelation success stories to be posted to the list. So far, I have received two VERY rude responses. I don't have time to read the archives and pick out the success stories. I'M TOO BUSY TRYING TO FIX MY KID AND FIND SOME STUFF THAT WILL CONVINCE MY HUSBAND THAT WE NEED TO CHELATE. I thought printing out a load of success stories might help. =======================================================

Guest guest
That is too bad that you received some rude responses. In the File section on the side, someone pulled all of the stories about " Kenny " . I hope that is easier for you. Personally, after this last weekend, I have seen some success with my son. His mannerisms are more " boyish " than " stimmish " . And he will repeat up to 4 syllable words, where before his language has been more difficult lately. > I made a polite request for chelation success stories to be posted to the > list. I posted once, that's what the ARCHIVES are for. Sorry its an inconvenience. I did my research at all hours of the night, after my kids are sleeping. Don't expect everybody to stop what they are doing and kiss your butt sister!! There, now 3 rude responses!!!!! Guest guest
Hi , I am a native Minnesotan and my son has been a patient of Dr. G for just over a year. I would be interested in who your physician is and also see if he would be willing to go through a physician training session. I think they are starting these now. I now live in Illinois and have many friends in the MPLS area. I also was at the Des Moines conference. I would be very interested in your details. Good job getting this physician interested. It is so hard!! If you have questions feel free to e-mail me privately!! Thanks!! Kathy B

Guest guest
a, Even though I went through my tentative list of procedures in an email I wrote a bit ago, I will again because I appreciate your concern. Yes - September 14. But the surgeon told me not to expect total pain free because I need the hip done on the same side and the pain from the hip will still transfer to the knee. Yes the pain is unbelievable whenever I try to move. It's also amazing to me how much it tips in. At church on Sunday we were talking about alcohol/drug addiction and I just sat there thinking that if narcotics helped my pain, I would not hesitate to take them constantly. Is this addiction? I think not! But they don't help-sooo. Guest guest
, Taking needed pain medication is not addiction. It is dependency, just like a diabetic depends on insulin. Those that take pain meds for recreation are at risk of addiction. I sure wish the narcotics gave you relief. Bone on bone pain is the worse, and not having pain meds that work is really the pits. Are you getting the pain pump after surgery? It really was a blessing for me. The morphine pump was already hooked up when I woke from my tkr's and I was in control of my own pain meds. It really made a big difference, and I didn't miss all those pain meds in my butt! a Re: [ ] (no subject) a, Even though I went through my tentative list of procedures in an email I wrote a bit ago, I will again because I appreciate your concern. Guest guest
Becky, 33! That sure was a houseful! Your niece is a very special baby girl because she shares her birthday with my mom, and my mom is a very special lady! I hope you feel well and have a lot of fun in Texas! Have a safe and happy New Year. a [ ] (no subject) We made it through Christmas and it was good; I had a total of 33 here at my house Christmas Day afternoon. My niece who had had her baby girl on Friday, Dec. 21 even came for a little while. Now if all (especially me) holds together, my husband and I will leave Friday, Dec 29 for Texas. do hope and pray Jessie does well as he continues to recoup from the surgery. As far the cold maybe it won't stay that way long; I live about 175 miles from there in Meridian, MS. We're practically neighbors. To all of you may the New Year start with being pain free, able to be up and about, with Hope for the New Year. Blessings to you all. Guest guest
just wanted to check in and say hi. dan's tooth is almost completely healed. still waiting on the roofer. been too cold for him to really do anything anyway. my parents made it home safely and are happy to have 65 degree days. i am still trying to accept the fact my elbow is giving me problems. i really crash when i don't take the prednisone, even such a small amount. been trying every other day now. i have spots again. i made an appt with a dermatologist, but can't get in until the 9th. they do not itch, but just look ugly, on my trunk and back. same as before. find my mind wandering 9 years ago to the christmas before my husband took his life. i try to keep moving. wish i wouldn't do that. well have a safe, painfree, and happy new year. kathy in il
Guest guest
Kathy, It's a relief that Dan's tooth is healing nicely. Sorry about that elbow. I have one that is really giving me a lot of grief too, so I can sympathize. I'm about ready to go get it injected. I hope they find out what's causing this rash! I hope you can get your mind wandering to less upsetting things. The holidays bring back many memories of lost loved ones. When I start to dwell and get sad, I put on music that makes me feel better. I hope the New Year brings you less pain and more happiness. a Re: [ ] (no subject) just wanted to check in and say hi. dan's tooth is almost completely healed. still waiting on the roofer. been too cold for him to really do anything anyway. my parents made it home safely and are happy to have 65 degree days. i am still trying to accept the fact my elbow is giving me problems. i really crash when i don't take the prednisone, even such a small amount. been trying every other day now. i have spots again. i made an appt with a dermatologist, but can't get in until the 9th. they do not itch, but just look ugly, on my trunk and back. same as before. find my mind wandering 9 years ago to the christmas before my husband took his life. i try to keep moving. wish i wouldn't do that. well have a safe, painfree, and happy new year. kathy in il
