Dan --------------------------------------- Hi Dan, I'm surprised to read your message saying that Klonopin lowers WBC and RBC and can cause anemia. Dr. Cheney has recommended Klonopin for years saying it protects the brain from neurotoxins. I did a web search and according to Web MD and other sites listed below, the lowering of WBC's and RBC's is not among the side effects. Do you have a more authoritative source than a friend telling you about this? I don't have the paper with the tiny print that comes with the drug. Does anyone have that information? http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/clonaz_ad.htm http://psychcentral.com/meds/clonazepam.htm http://professionals.epilepsy.com/medications/p_klonopin_seriousside.h tml
Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I know Cheney recommends Klonopin -- that's why I ended up deciding it was okay to take. Perhaps even he is unaware of all of the effects of the drug, I don't know? Anyway, it may " protect the brain " , but I'm just wondering if it does more harm in the long run. Again I don't know, just tossing out the question. If you do a " Google " search and type in " klonopin " (or clonazepam) and maybe " anemia " , you'll pull up dozens of sites that list the side effects. Here's a good one: http://www.druginfonet.com/index.php?pageID=klonopin.htm " Leukopenia " is the term for lowered white blood cell count. " Thrombocytopenia " = low platelets, etc.. (note that it states: " Periodic blood counts and liver function tests are advisable during long term therapy with Klonopin. " ) On top of all this, I see that it's also connected to anorexia -- and I've been waaaay too thin for the last three years -- about the same time I've been on the drug.
