Guest guest
And I was down on mitochondrial dysfunction. This really fantastic paper by Suzanne Vernon at the CDC indicates that the gene expression in people who get EBV (mononucleosis) and then develop post-infective fatigue differs from those who recover and many of those differences occur in the mitochondria. Thats a model for everyone whose CFS started with an infectious event. Its also a slap in the face to those who posited that those patients just had poor coping skills. This is one of a series of really great studies the CDC is doing. They are following cohorts of people who come down with different infections and seeing what changes in them over time as some come down with CFS and some dont. It demonstrates what a turnaround the CDC has had. Nobody else is doing this kind of stuff. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi? cmd=Retrieve & db=pubmed & dopt=Abstract & list_uids=16448567 & query_hl=3 & it ool=pubmed_docsum You can also access the entire paper by going to pubmed.com and typing in mononucleosis. epstein-barr.
