Guest guest
Dear Friends, Always we talk about maintaining confidentiality of PLWHAs, but we forget to follow the same. We condemn the issues of Stigma and Discrimination but during condemnation we advertise the victims. Are we hurting the livings of HIV+ individuals through our efforts for their betterment? Thursday, December 18, 2003, Times of India, has published an article about Tas Nawaj (32), mentioning the discriminations he is facing because of being HIV+. This article focuses on his positive approach towards fighting with HIV/AIDS even after discriminated by family, employer and also medical professionals. Every thing is fine but I could not understand the necessity of publishing the photographs of Tas Nawaj. I don't know whether Times group has taken the consent of Nawaj or not. But if they do have the consent, it should be mentioned with the news, which is not present. May be again it is the case of breaking confidentiality. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ravikant Kumar Program Coordinator François Xavier Bagnoud - India Branch - Jammu and Kashmir Email - fxbjammukashmir@...
