UNICEF OFFICE POSITION OPENING: PROJECT OFFICER: HIV/AIDS and YOUNG PEOPLE The UNICEF Mumbai Office is looking for a candidate to oversee UNICEF's support in the area of HIV/AIDS and Young People. The selected candidate will work closely with the Government and NGO counterparts and provide professional and technical support in planning and implementing and monitoring support for programmes to reach young people in school and out of school, and for the effective use of communication for behavioral development. The major tasks will include Develop work plans for UNICEF support in HIV/AIDS and monitor, document, evaluate and analyze project progress Review and compile available literature on young people, women and children and HIV in Maharashtra and develop a profile of Young People and HIV/AIDS in the state for use in advocacy. Facilitate follow-up consultations and formation of networks with key primary stakeholders to input into programming and strategy development for young people Support development of appropriate training modules and materials on basic information on lifeskills, especially related to HIV/AIDS and facilitate its implementation in and out of schools;, and adapt/develop supplementary materials and activities for young people in school and out of school. Support behavioral and communication research with young people in order to strengthen programme and communication effectiveness. Facilitate partnerships and resource mobilization to scale up programme interventions, including assisting in the development of funding proposals. The contract will be issued for a one year period with the possibility of renewal on an annual basis for up to four year. The candidate will be recruited on basis of the following criteria: · University post graduate degree/doctorate in social sciences, social work or public health; · Eight years professional experience in programme planning/coordination/strategy formulation /monitoring/evaluation in health/development sector; · Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and civil society experience is advantageous. · Good language proficiency in English, Marathi and Hindi; · Illustrated strong communication skills and training skills; · Illustrated team building skills · Illustrated networking and organization skills; · Computer skills and experience in data analysis. · Work experience with UN/International agencies or NGO desirable.
