Hi

Wonder if anyone have experience in using glucosamine for Leaky gut?

Dosage, time, any negative effects etc.

I heard recently that there were some insulin interaction with

glucosamine which I have to watch because of much diabetes in my family.

Many years ago - agound 1990 I was reading some stuff abut leaky gut

and it recommended Glucosamine among other things. I couldn't tolerate

it. Tried it many times. It may be becuse of the sulfate part - and my

inability to detox sulfur. Tyler encapsulations had a supplement with

glucosamine, buteryn and a couple of other things I can't remember for

leaky gut. I decided to try them seperately. We have given it to our

pets who have arthritis, and it helped them. We now have a dog with

hip dysplasia and it has helped him a lot. The theory for the gut is

the same, I think, as for the joints. There is also glucosamine

hydrochloride, which I haven't tried yet.

I've frequently heard L-glutamine recommended for leaky gut (my

husband has IBS, and this is an old standby) -- but glucosamine's a

new one on me.

Just mentioning this in case there's some confusion between the two?

It was definately glucosamine. Now I remember one of the other

ingrdients of the Tyler formula was probably glutamine, which I take.

So I haven't confused the two. But google it and see what you find.

I remember reading that glucosamine keeps candada and other nasties

from adhering to the intestinal wall. I always thought that the reason

I didn't tolerate glucosamine was because it was getting rid of the

nasties nnd I couldn't handle the die-off. Maybe it's the sulfate. Who

knows?
