Guest guest
Dear Friends Just want to add on to Dr Aggarwal's comments. Most of the patients from the lower socio economic status seen in urban centers like Delhi are migrant workers from rural North India. Studies done by our organisation in 10 of these rural settings showed that only about 25 - 30% of people in these communities are aware about HIV AIDS. There need to bemore focus on rural behavioral change education programs and setting up rural VCT services, Dr. Mathew S , Emmanuel Hospital Association. E-mail: ehaaids@... Guest guest
Dear Forum, I think most AIDS related initiatives have been happening in Urban areas, especially the big metros. Please correct me if I am wrong. This correlates with the existing nature of health care in the country. There are a few exceptions that I am personally aware of. Freedom Foundations has treatment centers in > smaller towns and even at the taluk level. It is imperative that health education messages should be taken to the rural areas as soon as possible and before it is too late.
