Guest guest
Dear Friends I am a very new professional working in the field of HIV/AIDS counseling and testing. I have been associated with a Municiple Corp.'s Hospital in Pune, India. The patients are mostly referred by the doctors of the hospital for HIV/AIDS counselling and testing. Since I have joined I have seen so many patients referred to us already were tested by Pvt doctors/Pvt labs. So many of them came Positive but not were counselled or even referred by these Pvt labs/ Pvt practioners, inspite of knowing well about our Governmental Free Counselling & Testing Centre. Sometimes I feel frustrated because, patients were given their reports by only telling that `you are normal' or `you have just got started the AIDS'. Its ridiculas, cause the simple reason that if such pts would have been referred or counselled to us or to any appropriate counselling centres, their partners could have been saved from the HIV transmission. For the consideration of this matter I have to mention here that we have now started to contact such Pvt practioners and Labs. My simple question is, doesnt it the responsibility of Pvt practioners Pvt Labs to refer these patients to the Counseling & Testing Centres?. Pawan Khatawane E-mail: pawanpeacemaker@...
