Janice-

We have a fellow CFS sufferer who is too sick to post and has been dx with

the nodules.

I would greatly appreciate if you would post the options that are presented to

you on what to do with your nodules so I can pass it along to her.

Thanks so much

Kathy

Hi Everyone,

I wasted no time getting to Lahey endocrinology(I went yesterday morning). The

doctor ran more blood tests on me and diagnosed " silent thyroiditis " , which is

an autoimmune disease (inflammation) characterized by a period of

hyperthyroidism, and

then hypothyroidism. On palpating my thyroid, he felt a nodule about 1 cm.

He had planned an iodine scan, but cancelled because the blood test already

clarified the cause. I'm still having an ultrasound/biopsy, but not until I have

been on medication for 6 weeks to stabilize the thyroiditis. By the way, with

iodine scan, if a nodule is " hot " it is benign, if " cold " it is malignant. Don't

know what medication I'll get until tomorrow, but will let everyone know. He

said this doesn't explain elevated sed rate, so I'm seeing a rheumatologist next

month.

Regards to all,
