Guest guest
I recently posted that I have been having terrible digestive issues and from the private responses I got, I know I am not alone. Ever since being first diagnosed with CFS I've had periodic stool tests using a couple of different labs. This time I used one from www.parasitetesting.com and Blasto. showed up for the first time. I checked the latest test I had done and they didn't even test for this. (The cost is relatively cheap at $100) In searching for a specific treatment for Blasto. I came across the following that I thought may be of interest (or help) to some of you. Blasto has a affinity for yeasts and candida and loves to eat grains. No wonder I have such problems with grains!! I'm planning a program of attack which will include colon cleansing first. on the lymestrategies group just posted a wonderful article about the use of Diatomaceous Earth. I will also include that. I think the following article came from shanti.com.au/body/blastocystis.htm. Blastocystis Hominis Several years ago, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia along with some other experts and authorities, re-classified an organism known as Blastocystis Hominis--a common organism found in the intestinal tract of most people--as a dangerous disease- producing organism, as opposed to just a harmless organism. It's been found that many people who have this organism have many different kinds of digestive complaints--allergies, immune system difficulties, skin problems, and bowel problems. Blastocystis is generally considered to be a weak parasite. It attacks those people who have a weakened immune system or a very weakened digestive tract. Blastocystis, many times, is totally unsuspected as being the cause or connection with somebody's digestive illness, because many labs do not know to test for it, or do not even know that it is now considered harmful. It is quite common to find Blastocystis in conjunction with other parasites in candida or harmful bacteria. Symptoms of Blastocystis: Blastocystis on its own, in the average healthy person, may produce no symptoms at all. However, in a person with weakened digestion or weakened immune response, Blastocystis can produce a host of symptoms which appear to come and go and are very unpredictable. THIS IS THE KEY THING ABOUT BLASTOCYSTIS HOMINIS: ANYONE WHO HAS GASTROINTESTINAL, ALLERGIC, SKIN OR IMMUNE PROBLEMS WHICH SEEM TO COME AND GO, ON AND OFF, WITHOUT MAKING MUCH SENSE, SHOULD SUSPECT THAT HE MAY HAVE BLASTOCYSTIS HOMINIS. THE REASON FOR THIS IS BLASTOCYSTIS HOMINIS ATTACKS THE BODY AND CREATES TROUBLE WHEN YOU'RE UNDER STRESS OR WEAKENED. THE MOMENT YOUR BODY PICKS UP A LITTLE, IT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFECT YOU. Blastocystis is a very peculiar organism in that it especially likes grains. Many people with Blastocystis may have grain allergies or difficulties tolerating grains. Getting rid of Blastocystis Blastocystis is very difficult to get rid of. It hides in the intestinal mucus, sticks and hold on very hard to your intestinal membranes, making elimination very difficult. Common treatment for Blastocystis medically would include Flagyl and other drugs. However, they are not to be of preference due to the fact that Blastocystis is so hard to eliminate. Medical drugs which are highly toxic may have to be taken for long periods of time in order to fully eliminate it. The length of time that one may need to take the medical drug may actually cause damage to one's liver or kidneys. Therefore, a slower, natural approach is definitely desirable. Several approaches are necessary in order to eliminate Blastocystis. Certain herbs have been found to be effective against it. There are not many of them, but there are a few. These herbs must be rotated-- meaning taken by themselves for a period of 4-5 days, then stopped, a new one introduced and taken for 4-5 days, stopped, and then another new one introduced, etc. In this way, the Blastocystis will not build up an immunity to any of these items. Herbs and Dosages: Black Walnut, 300mg Wormwood, 500mg Cloves, 300 mg Oil of Oregano, 5 drops Quassi Amara, 200mg Gentian, 100mg Coptis chinensis Extract (10:1), 100mg Forsythia suspense Extract (20:1), 50mg Lonicera japonica Extract (7:1), 150mg Allium sativum Extract (Allicin 13mg/g), 200mg Commiphora myrrha powder, 200 mg Echinacea angustifolia (4% phenolics), 250mg Citrus Bioflavonoid Complex 40%, 200mg Zinc (citrate), 10mg Vitamin A, 10,000 IU Vitamin C (pure ascorbic acid), 500mg Recommended dosage: 2 or 3 capsules or tablets, 3-4 times daily. Colon cleanses are necessary in order to eliminate Blastocystis. The reason for this is the old mucus or old fecal matter lining the intestinal tract must be broken down and eliminated to physically wash out the Blastocystis and then to allow the herbs to make full contact with the Blastocystis, which may be stuck to the intestinal lining. Colonics are very important to eliminate Blastocystis. You can also put the herbs directly in an enema. This allows the herbal substances to contact the Blastocystis in the bowel, and destroy it. Fat-splitting or fat-digesting enzymes are also very important with Blastocystis. When studied under the microscope, Blastocystis seems to have a fatty reservoir. Fat-splitting or fat-digesting enzymes are helpful to dissolve some of the Blastocystis and weaken it, thereby allowing the herbal substances to have greater attack. It sometimes occurs that people will eliminate all symptoms of the Blastocystis while still retaining it. This is due to the fact that when the immune system of the intestinal tract is strengthened, the Blastocystis is weakened and has little effect. It is possible to still have Blastocystis in your intestines, yet suffer no effects of it, by doing this procedure. It is of course much better to eliminate the Blastocystis fully from your body, but if this is not possible, the next best thing is definitely to be symptom-free. Some people have no symptoms return from the Blastocystis, when their stool tests indicates that there still is (occasional Blastocystis). In this case it is necessary to maintain some of the herbs, digestive enzymes, and bowel cleansers to keep the intestinal tract in good enough shape to withstand any influence the Blastocystis may have. Blastocystis does it deadliest work when in combination with other parasites, harmful bacteria, and fungus. In a case where someone may have parasites or candida or harmful bacteria, we always find the Blastocystis is the last to leave. Because Blastocystis needs the help of other parasites, candida or harmful bacteria in order to create an effect on your body, the proper approach demands that we first kill the organisms which are its allies and help it, because this renders the Blastocystis helpless and less able to create irritation to our systems. After we have killed the candida, parasites and harmful bacteria, we then focus our attack on the Blastocystis. Having no allies, we find it much more amenable to being killed and eliminated. Keep in mind that there are many factors influencing the Blastocystis and that if your symptoms don't disappear it might not be Blastocystis. Definitely have another test done after you did all of the above suggestions. Read all about colon cleansing, educate yourself. Some people think they can stay on junk food and eliminate Blastocystis. This is not possible. You have to decide what is more important to you. Your food addictions or your health.
