Dear Colleagues,

I have attached below information on a scholarship available at LSE Health

Research Scholarship

Applications are invited for a three-year scholarship intended to allow a

candidate to register for a PhD at the LSE. The focus of the PhD research

should be a topic within the field of the economics of the pharmaceutical

industry, topics relating to competition within the pharmaceutical industry

and/or innovation are particularly sought. The value of the award in 2003-4

covers tuition fees, as well as funding some proportion of maintenance

costs. Further financial support through tutorial teaching may be available.

Candidates will be expected to have obtained an M.A./M.Sc. in a relevant

subject before commencing the PhD.

In order to apply you should send your CV, including the details of two

referees, and submit a research proposal of 4-5 pages relating to the

intended work to Professor Alistair McGuire, LSE, LSE Health and Social

The deadline for applications is 18th July 2003 and it is expected that the

successful candidate will be informed by the end of August 2003. Further
