Guest guest
I find that walking outdoors helps alot, both mentally and physically. I meditate every day, and have been doing so for almost 30 years. I think it helps to keep me mentally stable and keep the spirits up. It was good discipline during the worst of the infestation, to meditate with bugs crawling all over me. I just keep trying to work through this problem. I don't believe this is a permanent affliction. Keep trying, don't give up. myrtle > > > > Hi Marguerite, > > > > How are you doing, now that you've moved to a new place? Are things > > better now? Guest guest
and Vivi and anyone else in a bad place right now: Ladies, hope is a funny thing sometimes, it comes and goes at it's own pace, whenever it feels like it on a whim. Staying positive, at times isn't easy but it's very important. Try this: Close your eyes (after you read this please) and think about the sunshine inside of you. As it grows brighter, the dark clouds of dispare disappear leaving more room for a brighter sun to warm you from the inside out. Don't forget to breathe deeply while you're doing this to help the dark clouds blow away. OK, now go try it, you might be surprised. Take care and be well. Guest guest
It's funny how such a simple thing as taking a few deep breaths and clearing your mind a bit can help. Of course, kicking the cat works too... shame I'm too lame to actually catch him. (kidding, I love my cat... sometimes) I started with the MTX on Sunday. Tell me something... do you usually take folic acid on every day BUT Sunday, or alternate days that are not Sunday (like Mon, Wed, Fri). My poor resident is French, and he sometimes is a bit confusing. lol And please tell me that my hair won't fall out. I'm not terribly vain, but there is a limit. Guest guest
Dear Mellisa, My hair didn't all fall out although it thinned. I used to however, get spotty bald spots. That was loverly to have quarter size bald spots on the top of my head but my mother assured me it was inherited from my grandmother and this area always grew back although it happened like four times over the years. I freaked when that happened. So, don't lose heart, I don't think it will happen to you or that you will lose that much of your hair. Good luck with the new medication dear. _____ And please tell me that my hair won't fall out. I'm not terribly vain, but there is a limit. ____________________________________________________________ Click here to find the rental car that fits your needs. http://thirdpartyoffers.netzero.net/TGL2241/fc/Ioyw6i4uHs8RUZZlx2CKPIluuxrPEbdod\ 1FU6HZz9jZcl3mqYk28VI/

Guest guest
MTX is a Folic Acid analog. (yes Ellen, I do like using words like " analog " ) It binds somewhat to the same receptors as Folic Acid, so you do want to let some of the Folic Acid through so the thought is to take extra when the MTX is not doing its thing. I found these remarks at http://www.aafp.org/afp/20001001/1607.html " Folate supplementation with 1 mg daily or 7 mg once weekly should be considered for all patients. Studies show that low-dose folate does not interfere with the efficacy of methotrexate. Most rheumatologists advise patients to avoid taking the folate dose on the same day as the methotrexate dose. " However, following good patient practices and verifying with your doc, you need to learn French, I am afraid. Guest guest
honey, You're not taking MTX in such a high dose that you're will fall out in large amounts and be noticable. The possibility is there, of course but the likelihood is that it'll happen slowly if at all. More like your shedding than anything else. At least that's what happened to me and what my doctor had said. Like you I'm not vain (I have no reason to be) but for some reason that was the first thing that I asked about. The other question I had was about my voice. When my mother was on MTX for her cancer her voice deepened, that's when he explained the amount of injection versus what my mother had for her breast cancer. Take care and be well. Guest guest
Ok, your hair won't fall out. Truthfully, you may lose a bit, but it will come back. Mine came back curly...and I didn't lose all of it. It just thinned out. I was told that the MTX depletes your body of folic acid so it's futile to take it on the same day. I take mine on Saturday, then every other day I take the folic acid. It's always best to clarify with your dr though. Hope you're feeling ok. in tx

Guest guest
Hi , I was worried about my hair too.It is almost to my waist. While it did not fall out I did lose some .I now have re growth which makes me look a little ''wild " on humid days. The regrowth has come in thicker and darker but usually you can not tell.I should probly get a good cut but am just not ready to chop my golden tresses.lol One thing that did happen however is that I have developed what I feel sure is a very stubborn fungal infection on my scalp & shoulder.Steroid creams aren't working(4 yrs now) and my dermatologist isn't too worried about it.I guess he feels that with the melanomas and the stills ,a few scaly patches are the least of my worries. But oh vanity!I don't want bald patches on top of every thing else either! I also took folic acid every day while on MTX. GL !

Guest guest
I've taken 2mg folic acid every day since around September 2004. That's when I started MTX. When i stopped MTX and switched to Arava, they kept me on the folic acid. Most people need it anyways. Houston, TX

Guest guest
Hi, I take Folic acid every day, and I take 2 mg now because I seemed to be especially effected by MTX. I do have hair loss, but I did not lose hair at first so who knows Hang in there. Alli
