Guest guest
Hi, I hadn't heard that about ammonia -- wow. Epsom salts, hydrogen peroxide, and rubbing alcohol are usually grouped together in the store. I don't think it's something new... myrtle > > Hi Gang, > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to Wal-Mart > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 bottles of > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 bottles. Guest guest
Hi Myrtle, Yes, that is strange about the ammonia....but I live in So. California so I don't know if that is going to be true nationwide or just here????? The odd thing is that I can buy 2 bottles, take those to my car, go back and in buy 2 more bottles...go figure! How are you doing in your mitey-battle? Did you say that you soak your shoes in Windex before wearing or just spray them? Thanks. Guest guest
LD, It's the same thing here in WV. Certain decongestant drugs such as Sudafed are also included in this " Meth " list and consumers are limited to one package per purchase. We have to sign our name on a form when purchasing! > > Hi Gang, > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to Wal-Mart > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 bottles of > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 bottles. Guest guest
Hi Truly, Yes, it amazes me how our purchases of certain medicines and chemicals are being curtailed now. I don't think that is an effective way to stop the " drug makers " because they can always go from store to store or simply purchase it from one day to the next or purchase online. I think the gov't. needs to concentrate on other issues such as a cure for what is plaguing all of us! Do I hear an " Amen " ? Guest guest
I have been spraying my shoes with lots of Windex, both the soles and uppers, about an hour before leaving for work. Then I spritz my feet and the insides of the shoes with Best Yet right before I put them on. Yesterday I steam cleaned my shoes and then kept them in a room with the dehumidifier running all night, but today I can feel a little bit of bug activity in the shoes, so I would say that dousing them with windex works just as well if not better than steam cleaning. It could be my steam cleaner isn't hot enough. Also, the steam cleaner wrecked some of my shoes, blasting them apart. I should spray windex on my shoes when I get home, but I usually don't. The windex doesn't seem to do cause any damage to the shoes. You can buy windex by the gallon at Costco. myrtle > > > > > > Hi Gang, > > > > > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to Wal- > Mart > > > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 bottles > of > > > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 bottles. > It > > > seems that ammonia is used to make meth-amphetamine and Wal-mart > is now > > > limiting their sales! Guest guest
Thanks Myrtle.....I think I need to join Costco! I have been buying mine at Wal-mart. Have you tried a Windex generic or does it make a difference? How about spraying your skin with Windex? (besides feet?) I have been trying that without any problems so far. But I think the Epsom salts and Windex combined is even more powerful. But I hope I am not mixing too many toxic chemicals together! Guest guest
I should start doing windex....I've been soaking them and they just smell like mildew...not a good smell in an office. > > > > > > > > Hi Gang, > > > > > > > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to Wal- > > Mart > > > > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 bottles > > of > > > > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 bottles. > > It > > > > seems that ammonia is used to make meth-amphetamine and Wal-mart > > is now > > > > limiting their sales! Guest guest
Hi , I think the Windex works great in addition to the soaking in water. I think the soaking seems to drown the mites that are hidden in the linings of the shoes after several hours. I was also using Febreze Antimicrobial spray on my shoes but I think the Windex is more effective. Must be the ammonia these things don't like??? To prevent the mildew smell, maybe put your shoes in the sun to dry before wearing again. Just a thought. (My tennis shoes take a long to dry I have noticed) LD > > > > > > > > > > Hi Gang, > > > > > > > > > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to Wal- > > > Mart > > > > > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 bottles > > > of > > > > > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 bottles. > > > It > > > > > seems that ammonia is used to make meth-amphetamine and Wal- mart > > > is now > > > > > limiting their sales! Guest guest
Compare the concentration of the chemicals on the back...if they are not the same then, no. A lot of cheaper products water down them to makes them seem like a better buy. Check for something that says like " ammonia 5% " compared to " ammonia 10% " . That is why the store brand mouth wash compared to brand name differ in the sting to the mouth. > > > > > > > > > > Hi Gang, > > > > > > > > > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to > Wal- > > > Mart > > > > > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 > bottles > > > of > > > > > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 > bottles. > > > It > > > > > seems that ammonia is used to make meth-amphetamine and Wal- > mart > > > is now > > > > > limiting their sales! Guest guest
We're all basically experimenting on ourselves, so if the windex/epsom salt combo seems to work for you, and your skin isn't falling off or turning purple or something, I would say " go for it " . I like the Dr. Bronner's lotions for my skin because it's viscous enough to stay on for a long time, and it doesn't make a mess. Also, it has oils like peppermint and lavendar that the bugs don't seem to like. myrtle > > > > > > > > > > Hi Gang, > > > > > > > > > > For those of us who use ammonia in the laundry...I went to > Wal- > > > Mart > > > > > last night and when I went to the check-out stand with 4 > bottles > > > of > > > > > ammonia the cashier told me that I was limited to only 2 > bottles. > > > It > > > > > seems that ammonia is used to make meth-amphetamine and Wal- > mart > > > is now > > > > > limiting their sales! Guest guest
I never tried a generic windex. I think there is a patent for windex, so the generic might not have the same ingredients. Guest guest
Every state I have been in asks for a signature and drivers license in order to buy Sudafed. I used to be fairly dependent on it for a clear head.

Guest guest
I agree with the brand name being more effective. Windex has Ammonia-D while straight ammonia, and store brand window cleaners dont. That seems to be key. Also with the mouth wash, I used listerine and it worked great, but my hubby brought home store brand mouth wash and it didnt work at all....your right, it was watery or something. > > > > Thanks Myrtle.....I think I need to join Costco!
