Guest guest
Adam's flea and tick carpet powder contains Nylar and yes I have used it before. Smell is powerful, but it kills anything with multiple legs or wings. A little goes a long way. How many people have used IGR's like Nylar? IGR's = Insect Growth RegulatorsHow many people have used IGR sucessfully against the mites??I found out about IGR on the www.shanspirations. org/?p=112 Here is a quote from their site:Nylar - This product made a big difference for us. Nylar is an insectgrowth regulator that mimics a hormone insects make when they molt. Byinterfering with this process the insects end up like Pan,unable to grow up and thus unable to reproduce. We used s brandand had fantastic results. In fact, we were nearly rid of them untilwe got something out that we had not washed effectively; it wasclearly still infested and they came back, though on a much smallerscale than before. The Nylar came to the rescue again because theyhave been gradually decreasing with hardly any work on our part (justa little vacuuming and dusting with DE).Nylar does not kill thebuggers, so you must use something else to actually bring relief.Nylar will keep them from coming back in force after you use otherproducts against them. This is a somewhat uncommon pesticide for homeuse and you probably won't find it at your local garden center, thoughan agricultural supply shop might have it. We found out about thisproduct from a coworker who had used it for fleas. The web site they got it from is here:www.cooperseeds. com/pestproducts .php3?prod= I_G_regulator2The stuff is fairly inexpensive, 6000 sq. ft of coverage for $16.00plus shipping. My own experience so far: I sprayed a week ago and only did the cracksand baseboards in the house. I had to go away for a week and when Icame back, it had made a large difference. This last weekend I sprayedthe rest of the carpet and the furnature. I plan to buy more andpretty much do all surfaces. We are always looking for things with long term effects, and I believethis may be a major one.My thinking is this.....we use products and go and spray the entire house....but we have to keep doing it. We are killing the adults butthat only lasts till the eggs hatch. By adding a IGR, we prevent thatnew generation from being able to breed, thus breaking the mites lifecycle. Also, because mites are 95% female and 5% male even if we missa few of the adult females, by using the IGR, no new males will beable to breed.Looking for feedback.... tell me your experiences using this kind ofproduct. Guest guest
I spray my own house rather than having pest controllers do it. When they come in they spray the floor and the fleas (I have dogs) run right up on my dresser, into my hanging clothing, etc. I get bitten by the fleas at waist level or higher. either of the two IGRs is fine, there are two kinds. I use the also because I like the fact of a lime peel-based (linalool) pesticide, but I don't use it on my whole house. I use this on my shoes. I use a 1-2-3 punch when I spray. IGR (either type) Dust Mite (wettable sprayable borate that coats carpet fibers, shreds larval phase of most critters) Enzyme Cleaner w Peppermint (ECP gives me the " knock-down " so the critters don't just exit the carpet when the water, IGR, and Dust Mite hit them). The Dust Mite only needs to be applied about every 8 months, but it takes a few weeks to kick in. www.nationalallergy.com IGRs are available at any DIY pest control store. ECP is from safe2use.com katiejill > > IGR's = Insect Growth Regulators > > How many people have used IGR sucessfully against the mites?? > > I found out about IGR on the www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 > > Here is a quote from their site: > > Nylar - This product made a big difference for us. Guest guest
I wondered if any one else used Dust Mite besides myself!? I get mine from there home website (/www.dustmitex.com) but it looks like your site is $5.00 cheaper for a 2 lb bag?? I'm thinking of using the Nylar on the walls and ceiling....if anything that isn't a full grown bug goes up the wall...that critter won't be making any babys. Then I'm hoping to use the menthol crystals to kill off the adults. I just am not sure how many pounds of crystals I need. I have only see a few of the adults, I almost caught a live one, but managed to have the sucker go down the drain while trying to get it into a container. What ever I have, it can jump, it is dark color and shaped kind of like a almond with looks like longer antenna in the front or they might be legs. Spingtails maybe? I would sure like to get it identified.....so I know what it's life cycle is. > > > > IGR's = Insect Growth Regulators > > > > How many people have used IGR sucessfully against the mites?? > > > > I found out about IGR on the www.shanspirations.org/?p=112 > > > > Here is a quote from their site: > > > > Nylar - This product made a big difference for us. Guest guest
Hi savemyskin,Yes it would be great you get it identified, it looks big!! And if it can jump, it looks like a collembolla! But don't trust to much the endomologists for the life cycle, don't forget that birdmites doesn't feed on humans and can't live more than some weeks, they say...So it comes the same with springtails. A lot of controversy they can parasite humans too. Oh god!Hope you can find a good person to identify it, at least to know what it is, but it should be easy cause yours look big. Guest guest
The adult creature I am dealing with is about as big as this ( - )(the dash) in length. I have maybe seen the younger ones.... I see something when I blow my nose and one of the two adult specimens I have I got when I coughed mucus up from my lungs and it was in the mucus. > > > > > > IGR's = Insect Growth Regulators > > > > > > How many people have used IGR sucessfully against the mites?? > > > > > > I found out about IGR on the www.shanspirations. org/?p=112 > > > > > > Here is a quote from their site: > > > > > > Nylar - This product made a big difference for us.
