Guest guest
Hi Patti, Sorry for the delay in responding. After we ripped out all of our carpeting in late winter, we were left with plywood subflooring. I started slop mopping (put your mop in the bucket, but don't wring it out when pulling it back out of the bucket). The mix consisted of 1/2 box or 32 oz. of Epsom salts and 2 cups of bleach in appx. 1 1/2 - 2 gallons of water. You'll know you have the mix right as the water will turn pink. It stinks too, so be sure to ventilate the area you are working in. As I slop mopped, I made sure to pay attention to all of the cracks in the subflooring and push the fluids up underneath all of the baseboards. For the walls and ceilings I put the same mixture in a garden sprayer and sprayed a heavy layer all over. But when filling up the garden sprayer, put HOT water in it first, add your salt and then shake it up to make sure that the salt disolves. If you don't do this then the sprayer will get clogged. Then add the bleach. I used this mixture throughout the whole house with the exception of the home office. In there I strictly used Windex due to the computers and such. I've never tried the bleach/salt combo on carpet, so I can't offer any advice there. In the beginning I slop mopped just about every day. Then I slacked off to abt. every 3 days. Now I slop mop about once a week. Of course with general cleaning in between. The Salt is easy to clean up off of the walls later with a Swiffer mop and the salt / bleach didn't damage the paint. Although now I'm in the process of painting the whole interior of the house as money permits. It's still too soon to tell whether we will be rid of these things for good or not. It's only been about 1 1/2 months? maybe since we have felt anything. But so far so good. Any reprieve from these demons are most welcome!!! Good luck to you Patti. Keeping you and everyone here in my prayers! Hugs! > TrulyBlest, > I was talking to Rita this afternoon.
