Guest guest
Hi miteyman, I only see the 50 pint Delonghi model at Costco (not 65) but I would think they are very similar. I like the fact that it has a pump so you can drain against gravity. Can you comment on your model regarding noise? Does the compressor hum or buzz loudly or is it relatively quiet? Also, do you know if the unit will resume in case of a power outage? And finally, does it have a humidstat that displays the current room humidity (as opposed to just a digital display that let you set your humidity setting). I'm thinking doing cedarcide as well in combination of a dehumidifier. Are you totally mite free now? Thanks. kihun > Then once the > area is clear, and all bags/boxes/closets/drawers open and clothing > treated, put a dehumidifer in and run it full time " forever " > (meaning months). Guest guest
Hi Kihun, Yes, I noticed that the Costco to me is now selling only the 50 pt version too. But the price is the same as the 65 pint earlier this year. Inflation for you, I guess. Yes, the pump convinced me too - no emptying buckets, put the dehumidifier wherever I want without worrying about being higher than the drain or obstacles for the hose, etc. It is moderately loud - not silent for sure, but not hard or rough in sound. A kinda smooth, medium-loud buzz. I sleep 12 feet from one, so I've gotten used to it. (I open the bedroom door when in the room, otherwise too hot to sleep.) It does NOT restart after power failure. That really annoyed me since I turned them both on and went for a two week trip. Came back hoping for a big reduction but they went off after the first couple of days due a thunderstorm. Rats. It does have a humidistat to show current room humidity, in addtion to the setting you choose. And turbo mode to run forever (which is what I've done). The humidistat is pretty accurate - within about two percentage points compared to an independent one 8 feet away. We still have mites although very low level at home. I think the dogs are the reason we haven't been able to get rid of them. Maybe I need to wash them everyday, but then that would wash off the Revolution (drops) and Amitraz (collars) so I'm not really sure what else to do. Ivermectin is not an option for one of them as it is a breed of dog that can die from it (a gene mutation). Cedarcide plus dehumidifier worked pretty well for us - getting down to levels that are very low. I hope we get just that little further... Still have problems at work too -- trouble is I can't control the humidity or temp there, so am left with sprays, etc. > > > Then once the > > area is clear, and all bags/boxes/closets/drawers open and > clothing > > treated, put a dehumidifer in and run it full time " forever " > > (meaning months). Guest guest
miteyman, Thanks for your detailed responese. The Delonghi model was attractive esp with the pump, but I ended up going with Danby since from the reviews, it appears to be very quiet and it has 8-pints more capacity than Delonghi. So you tried cedarcide and dehumidifier but they didn't completely kill? Is Joan's the only one in this forum that's had complete success with cedarcide? I just ordered the trijet fogger and 2gal today ($300!) and when it comes in Friday, I plan on fogging this place til no tomorrow. Do you recommend that I spend a night somewhere else to really let it set in or is 4-hours enough? Thanks. kihun > > > > > Then once the > > > area is clear, and all bags/boxes/closets/drawers open and > > clothing > > > treated, put a dehumidifer in and run it full time " forever " > > > (meaning months).
