Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure about dogs, but our vet had given my 2 kitties Ivermectin shots weekly for 6 weeks then started them on the Lime Sulfur dips once a week for, (if memory serves me correctly) 8 weeks. During the time that they were being dipped, the vet started them on Revolution which was administered monthly. The Ivermectin was given according to their weight. Just as it is in humans. When you start your pets on any of the above, just keep a close eye out on them. Watch for symptoms of vomiting, excess salivating, weight loss and etc. I had to stop the treatment for one of my babes as the dips were making her sick. But she was fine within a week and back to her old talkative self again! Then within a couple of weeks I started rubbing them down with Olive Oil once a week. To do this and to make it easier on yourself, take 2 paper towels and spray the olive oil on them. Crunch them up so that they are evenly saturated and grab your pet and wipe 'em down from head to toe. Don't share the paper towels. Use 2 for each pet and then dispose. This does not prevent the mites from biting them, but it helped in " catching " the ones that were still in our environment. It also helped in keeping the cats from spreading them from room to room. > > I know some people have given up their pets because of this plague. Guest guest
lorenuciadoekes, I forgot to mention that borax is poisonus to cats. (You may already know. If so... I apologize...) Make sure that your cat/s don't come in contact with it should you use this on your dog/s! And vicesversa for other pet treatment options. Adam, Thank you for the previous post and in mentioning the borax for dogs! Otherwise I would have never remembered! Glad your doggie is happy. All my best. > > I know some people have given up their pets because of this plague. Guest guest
I wish I had good news about my dogs but they were not helped. 3 months of dipping at the vet every week. Then 6 weeks of invermectin and then revolution every two weeks for 6 months. They were scratching in their sleep and crying as they rubbed their faces on every corner in the house. They walked with their heads held sideways because their ears itched so bad. I sat and cried for 2 1/2 months trying to help them at least get some sleep even though each time I touched them I broke out on both arms in a very painful rash. There comes a point where you have to decide if the treatment is more painful that the disease. Our hearts will never be the same. Yes, I loved my little ones more than my own life........this mite from hell has destroyed our family. Rita Re: How often can I safely use revolution and lymdyp on my dog and cat? Guest guest
once every 2 weeks for revolution. it's best to inject with ivermectin once every 7 days. you have to learn to give injections subcutaneously with a gauge 25 needle, which is a very thin needle, or give the ivermectin to the dog orally. Guest guest
Hi Save, Yes. It's given according to weight. One shot every 7 days for about 6 - 8 weeks. > > > > From: lorenuciadoekes <lorenuciadoekes@> > > Subject: How often can I safely use revolution and > lymdyp on my dog and cat? > > bird mites > > Date: Thursday, September 11, 2008, 6:16 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I know some people have given up their pets because of this plague.
