Guest guest
Wow, what a lot of people in PA! I am from MI. Anyone else from MI? I hope no one minds me sharing one of my philosophies. I think anything is possible. Even if you can't raise your EF, you can still raise the amount of things you can do and your quality of life by having a good attitude. My doctors and nurses are amazed at what I can do with an EF of 18%. My parents sometimes wonder if I really need to be transplanted. When asked about it, I say that EF is only a number. It is a very powerful number and can pin you down if you let it. You only have to decide that you're not going to let it dictate your life. There is a poem by Shel Silverstein that I love because it sums up my whole philosophy about life. I would like to share it with you. Listen to the mustn'ts child, Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles and won'ts. Listen to the never have's then listen close to me, Anything can happen child, Anything can be. Good thouhts to everyone,

Guest guest
Hi Aimee and welcome, I have around 49lbs to lose, gained during pregnancy. I actually gained 112lbs (!) mainly because my thyroid became underactive and also because I had sickness all day every day for the whole 10 months (Ollie was 2 weeks late). The only thing to ease the sickness is to eat carbs (sounds stupid I know!). And because I felt so crap I couldn't exercise. So, when I got married in March 2002 I was my usual 9st 12lbs (I am 5'7 " ). Not very toned I might add, but reasonably fit. When I gave birth to my son, Ollie (who weighed 9lbs 8oz) at the end of January I was 252lbs! Seems totally unreal now, looking at the figures!! I am currently 13st 5lbs. I lost 4st through CV work - I had an emergency c-section so I couldn't use weights for 12 weeks which was just horrendous. But I did go back to the gym after 6 weeks and used the HIIT cardio from BFL. I have had a valuable insight into being overweight, and I hate it. Good luck with your challenge! > Thanks for all the nice replies. I remember I used to sit at the > computer on a Mon. and literally catch up on hundreds of posts from > the weekend. Guest guest
You are so right. The food problem can be solved much like a typical 12 step program. It is easier to stay clean than it is to get clean because to get clean one must cross that abyss again. That is the hardest part. Another tired but worthy alcoholic/addiction phrase is " keep coming back. " That would also apply to this board because of all the support it provides. When we find we are not alone with this it helps us to " stay clean. " Thanks for making a valid point. Stasia

Guest guest
one thing we normally don't go into in this group is politics and sex and I know there is one more thing just can't remember what it is.....Kathy B. Religion and Thank You Kathy B. Serious discussions of sex, politics and religion has it place but Not in this Hepatitis C Support Group. No two members views and beliefs are the same which leads to endless time consuming discussions in group of these topics which pushes our own members, You and Your Friend's and the HCV support that is need by the wayside. This group was created for All to benefit from no matter what race, political party or religion the member believes in. Now is the time to return to our focus of support for our fellow HCV members and members of HCV loved ones. We do share our lives and those of our family and friends within this group because HCV effects every aspect of our lives and all that know and love us but stick to the purpose of this group love, support and HCV info. Damn people get a grip on reality and what this group stands for and how much our members mean to us. We are dealing with HCV a very serious, chronic, incurable, horrible and far to many times a terminal illness. We need the love and support of each other to survive the best way we know how. It's time we started doing that again or we may as well hang it all up and go it alone. I don't need this added stress and I'm sure no other members does either. Guest guest
Syna- I am sorry you have felt ignored. I'm not sure what I can help you with, as my daughter is only 17 months old, was diagnosed at 6 months, casted at 8, but I will try to answer anything I can. There are a few parents on the group who do have where casting has been successful for them. Have you asked Hyatt for a video on casting? Do you know what Haden's COBB angle is? COBB angle is the degree of his spinal curvature. I'm not sure if RVAD something to be considered when looking at juvenille scoli. The RVAD is the rib vertebral angle difference measurement. This is a technique developed by Miss Min Mehta to determine if the curve is progressive or resolving. Any RVAD over 20 degrees is considered to be progressive. This means it won't self resolve and treatment is required. You can finds more information about this at the files link. We are all expereinced moms and dads here able to empathize with the fear, anxiety, and uncertainty you are going through right now. Please let us know if we can try to answer any questions for you, or tell you about our experrinces. I wish you the best of luck! He loves to play Football and many other sports. I spoke to Shellie Grant on Friday and she told me to sign up for this group and I have, but no one seams to repay to me. I really love to read want all of you have to say about your children and it does help me know a little more about scoliosis. I have been searching online for all the info. I can get about this. I do think that the world needs to know more about Scoliosis. I was told that the school does yearly checks on kids, but my 12yr old says they only do it to the girls and my 2 younger boys have never had it done. so I think that it should be a yearly check up at the Doctors office. I would have never known Haden had this but a friend of ours noticed one shoulder was lower than the other and thought he might have a cracked collar bone and that I need to have him seen. We saw the PA and she seamed Very Concerned and the Haden pediatric Dr. came over and said thats not a big deal. I am very confused about this whole thing. I pray for all of you in this same situation with your children and hope for the BEST for all. Guest guest
Hi Carmell, I know everyone is very busy. I want to Thank You for the reply. It has given me lost of things to check on. I hope that we findout more on march 8th. I would do anything for my children or anyone for that matter. I just want to know as much as possible before I get to a Dr. I don't want to be confused anymore.everyone here understands what we are going through. We all have busylives and sometimes it takes a little more effort toreply. I know I can't reply to posts everyday...sometimes it takes me a week to get back to the list. Regardless, Welcome to the list!My son, Braydon is 9yrs old. He was born withcongenital scoliosis and several other structuralbirth defects. We have been dealing with theemotional effects of scoliosis since before he wasborn. I understand how scary and worrisome this isfor you. My suggestion to you is to make sure thespecialist you see is a PEDIATRIC orthopedist whospecializes in scoliosis in young children. There area few around. You may have to travel a bit beforefinding the right doc for Haden. You need to know what kind of scoliosis he has... isit congenital (meaning are there bones that are notformed correctly) or is it idiopathic (meaning thebone structure is normal, just curved. You also needto know if there are any other medical issues that maybe contributing to the scoliosis. Does he have anyspinal cord issues? Does he have one leg shorter thanthe other? Does he complain of back pain? You willalso need to know what degree of severity the curveis, and where the curve is located (upperspine-cervial, mid-spine-thoracic, lowerspine-lumbar). A thoracic curve can affect his lungfunction and other internal organ function. My other suggestion is to take this one step at atime. Take a few deep breaths and remember thatscoliosis is rarely an emergency situation. You havetime to research and find out what the best optionsfor Haden will be. The focus of this list is helpingparents with infants and VERY young children withtreatment options. You may find another list is morereceptive to Haden's situation. That list ishttp://www.scoliosis.org/forum/There seems to be a surge of 10- and 11-yr olds withnew scoliosis diagnoses on this list. Hopefully youwill find someone in similar shoes as what your familyis dealing with.Feel free to continue posting here, as well. We'd behappy to have you. If you are interested, I have awebsite that shows some of Braydon's medical issues, including his spine issues, on a webpage. Guest guest
Hi all, it seems that we all dread school. My daughter has been so much more relaxed since school ended. Unfortunately reality will hit soon. Here in our district we have only one week off for Christmas vacation, however she will have one more week off in February and one in April. It makes it harder for us parents to find a place for them to stay but now I am actually looking forward to the vacation time. We'll be leaving shortly for Canada and will stay with my husband's cousins until Monday. It should be nice and relaxing, however their children are adults now and my daughter will have no one to play with. I hope this won't make things harder for her. You all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR and thank you for listening and giving such great advises. Stefi.
Guest guest
Sorry Virginia Hopefully you will have some delivererance soon Blessings R To everyone Hi. Just a note to let you know what transpired today with my issues. I had a second D & C but it also is incomplete. It seems that the lining is too thick to safely remove it in the condition that it is in. Therefore it must be thinned down by hormones and I don't know how long that will take. I came through everything just fine and have had a long nap this afternoon but am also taking meds to rest so that I can recoup quicker. Thank you all for your good thoughts and prayers. It seems I still have a long road ahead of me, one that I am already tired of walking. I also found out today that the oxygen I take in has been low because it is the red blood cells that carry the oxygen and that is what I have been having to have transfused. Enough about me. Thanks again. Virginia __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Ann, you're doing so GREAT <:-) If a person's body is not used to any regular exercise routine, it can resist doing the work, that's for sure !!! but consistently taking it just One Day at a Time with LifeLift DOES produce noteworthy results like you're seeing in the mirror & on the scale (I threw away MY scale, but hey, that's just me!)...
