Guest guest
I have been out of work for the last week and a half. I used a few sick days, and then decided to move my two week vacation up a little sooner. I told my co-workers that I have hives. I believe my problem is - these evil little bird mites!! I have one more week off, and I was so hoping to get through this horrific nightmare before it's time to go back to work, because I don't think I can work if I still have them. How do people function and work with this terrible problem????? I am so miserable tonight. They are in my car, I feel them crawling on me. When I was at the office a couple of weeks ago, I felt them jumping off of me. Then I would notice people rubbing their noses or wiping their face. I get the sharp pin pricks, and the lovely welts that they leave all over me when they decide to attack. I consider this to be one of the worst nightmares that I have had to go through. (I just want my life back!) For the last 2 1/2 weeks I have been going crazy cleaning, spraying eucalyptus oil & water, steaming, vacuuming etc... I just started fogging this week with Best Yet, from the Cedarcide Store. I walk around smelling like a cedar tree (kind of like a smoky smelling cedar tree), but I must say that this stuff has given my skin some relief. But, after awhile the little buggers still start biting me again! I breed Miniature Schnauzers, and have used the Best Yet on them. The dogs seem to be much happier now. I breed finches, but I have to be extremely careful when I fog, as this could kill them. I live with a friend, and she is not affected my these evil little things, except for a little itch here and there. They have chosen to use me as their host. I'm so sick of being bitten by these things and having welts all over the place. I have spent so much money trying to get rid of them, that I paid my mortgage and car payment very late this month. (Never mind the pile of bills that I don't even want to look at, as I don't have the money to pay them). I'm not sleeping well, I take a lot of baths, and I feel so alone in this battle, that sounds like I'll never win. Can I pass these little evil things on to other people??? They are in my car, and I have done so many things to get them out to no avail. I just fogged my car the other day, but I haven't driven in it since, so I'm not sure if that took care of the problem. My friend has been using my car as I am off from work, and they do not bother her in the least. The last time I used my car (around 5 days ago), the little buggers bit me like crazy. I'm assuming because I hadn't used the car for several days. (I guess they must have missed me). Because I've been home and pretty much cleaning everyday, I really think these little buggers are angry with me, so they are fighting back by attacking me so much. ??? I really haven't read much of the post on this site yet, but I must say it's so nice to know that there is a place that I can go to to talk with someone about this. I'm afraid to tell anyone. My oldest sister, and one of my son's are the only two people that I have confided in. My wonderful sister purchased the Tri-Jet Fogger for me. She told me to call them at the Cedarcide Store, and when I did they were so nice, understanding and helpful. That was the first time that I felt so relieved that someone else knew what I was going through. I also ordered a case of the Best Yet, as the fogger only came with one gallon, and I was told I would need three. I have a small house, but I have a lot of stuff in it. I need to go and finish up my bathroom closet. (I took everything out of it last night, washed every little thing, threw out a bunch of old stuff, and today I painted all of the shelves & the inside of the closet. (I'm hoping I painted a bunch of the little buggers!) Now I have to put all of the shelves back in along with all of the stuff). I plan on coming back to read more post later. Thanks for letting me vent!! Very sad and disgusted! Sue
Guest guest
Sue, I hope the cedar oil helps you. I sprayed gallons in my hone and it didn't get rid of the things. Helps me feel less for a little while but the things persisted. The only thing that has killed them in my house was the Clorox, salt and raid. I hope you can hang in there and keep trying...it's really all we can do. Try the raid in your car.....don't use the Raid bombs, they have different chemicals in them......use the raid ant and roach spray. Spray the car until it is saturated.....very wet......under the seat and the carpet must be soaked...you may have to use 4 cans each time you spray. This spray has removed the things from our car and from our skin and home. I wish you luck and I pray that you, along with everyone on this site gets their lives back soon. Guest guest
Rita, Do you add the Clorox to water and Epsom salts in a spray bottle? And to what ratio? Do you also spray that same mixture on your body? Would you fill a tub with the mixture and soak in it? The Clorox and Dawn baths have got my skin like a leather-paper thing that just breaks if I accidentally stretch it. It's really painful. > > Sue, I hope the cedar oil helps you. Guest guest
Hi Sue, We can all relate to how frustrating this must be for you right now. It can seem like an unending battle against an unseen predator that is relentless. Regarding the work environment, I keep a lint roller handy and also a small spray bottle that I can take to the bathroom to spray if I need to. Before going in to work, I use my DustBuster vac in the car one last time. There isn't any one thing that does it all, it just seems like a lot of little things which help out. I am surprised that you did not mention if the finches you have are bothered by the mites. It was recently posted on the forum how a bird breeder is having luck with cigar tobacco around the bird cage and it keeps the mites away from them. Good luck with the Cedarcide, and let us know how it works. It seems like some are having luck and others not so much? Tim > > I have been out of work for the last week and a half. Guest guest
Welcome Sue! I think the most important aspect of this battle is being able to get a good nights sleep, so that you are rested enough to be able to continue the cleaning protocol. Some things that were successful for us came from Ray's protocol in the files section. Bathing Protocol: This involved spraying Listerine Original all over us...(It burned like fire where we had bites...) and letting it sit for a few minutes and then bathe/shower with Tea tree oil soap or Head & shoulders " Ocean Lift " shampoo. After we got out of the shower we would slather ourselves down with Gold Bond Medicated lotion... The one in the green bottle. The mites don't like the menthol. (Anything mentholated will work.) (Alot of folks have had great results using Sulphur lotions, Epsom salts... and etc.) We washed our bedding every single day with Dreft laudry deterg., Borax, Calgon Water softner, LOTS OF Bleach where applicable. BEFORE putting anything in your dryer to be dried... be sure to clean your lint trap with bleach water every single time. Take your vacuum and vacuum any and all of the lint from and around the trap... etc. Your dryer doesn't get hot enough to kill the mites. If you don't clean your dryer out every time, you will only infest the next load that you put in there. Wasted washing effort is a no no! This battle is costly enough without wasting any water. After your bedding is dry... DO NOT make your bed up immediately. ONLY make your bed up right before you plan to go to bed. Don't make the bed up in the morning and let it sit all day with your newly laundered sheets... the bedding will only become re infested and all of the effort will be for naught. DON'T let the laundry stay in the dryer all day either! Instead... take a garbage bag and put all of your dry things inside... then tie a very tight knot so the bag is airtight. (Same thing applies to clothing) DO NOT make your bed up until AFTER you have completed your bathing protocol. You will re infest the bedding if you don't. After you make your bed... sprinkle Gold Bond Medicated Powder between the sheets. DO NOT reuse the garbage bag... Throw it away. You will only infest the next load of laundry should you use it again. Wrap your pillows with a garbage bag and tape it shut tight with Duct Tape. Don't get the " crinkly " sounding bags... you'll NEVER get any sleep! For the environment, Several folks here have had great results with using dehumidifiers. You can read Jeff Teeters post called " Please Don't Water The Mites " to learn more about this. We used Clorox and Epsom salts spray (Rita's mix!) in our environment and have been mite free since Mid to late June. Another thing that helped us was painting... paint every single thing that you can... walls... ceilings... all trim work.... and be sure to caulk every crack and crevice that you can. Keep all wood furniture wiped down with Orange Oil. Automobiles are tricky. I treated my truck with Windex and over a period of a few weeks the mites were gone. Rita's Raid protocol may work better/faster! Diet may be another factor in how soon one can get rid of this. Do you or are you consuming more sweets than normal? This may be why they are atracted to you? ... Unfortunately... I believe these things are contagious! Don't try on clothing at dept. stores... refrain from hugging people... etc... This was the worst part of the infestation for us. I'm a hugger... and not being able to hug family / friends almost destroyed me. Sue, I am so sorry that you are going through this. But you can beat this! Just figure out a personal and environmental protocol that works best for you and stick with it. Look at the numbers on a weekly basis... not daily. After starting your protocols did you notice that this week was better than last week? Less crawling? Less biting? If so... stay with it and the numbers will continue to decrease. (Others living within the house will need to follow this protocol as well. If not... the environment will keep getting re infested and thus could lead to possible internal infestation.) This isn't going to happen overnight... winning this battle takes a bit of anger... determination... and persistance. It will be the hardest job that you have ever had in your life... erradicating this. But you can do it! Best Wishes & thoughts to you! Trly > > I have been out of work for the last week and a half. Guest guest
Sue You will get over this! Many of the people who have responded to you including my family have beaten this nightmare..... That was wonderful of your sister to buy you cedarside.....cedarside is more than cedar oil alone, and there has been a poster whose husband had this plague....they were able to get rid of this using cedarside as well as ivermectin taken internally. Her name is Joan. There are also plenty of other methods, many of which have been mentioned to you already, which are getting people out of this awful mess. Just by being a part of this group you are one giant leap closer to getting rid of this. Z
Guest guest
I get in the shower and I soap up my wash cloth with the dawn dish washing liquid.......I have my straight Clorox in a squirt bottle ....an empty dish soap bottle works well......I take the straight Clorox and I squirt a little Clorox into the wash cloth and I start to wash. I wash my hair and my entire body with this. I keep adding soap and Clorox as needed. Then I rinse and I slowly pour the one pint of water to 2 cups Epsom salt over me. A small bottle of Listerine holds one pint of water and it makes a great mixing bottle. Then I pour the salt water into an empty dish soap bottle so that I can slowly pour the salt water over me. Rub it in well from head to toe. Then I slowly pour the extra virgin olive oil over me. I get out of the shower and blow dry my skin until it is as dry as I can get it. I put betadine or olive oil down my ears and up my nose followed by Vaseline. Then I put baby oil over the roots of my eyes lashes and follow that with Vaseline. Since we don't feel the things in the house any more, we spray ourselves with the raid right before we get in the shower. We do this because what ever we had is so very tiny that it can get set up in the skin before we know it so we don't want to give the things a chance to get back down in our skin. We are going to keep this up for at least 3 months....that's what the nurse told me....she said once the things are gone keep up what ever killed them for the next 3 months......that way we won't have failure. I had zero luck with baths.....I got my sickest trying to take baths. The dry crinkled skin that I had was from the mites and the damage they were doing to my skin. The Clorox and salt doesn't make any difference on my skin. I have soft supple skin again. Hope this helps. Rita Hello everyone! Maybe a move would lighten the load. It is a bug it will die, don & #39;t kill yourself doing it. Sulfur 10 percent & hand creme is very soothing , I use is 2 time a day if necessary . zooks used it along with permiterin ( now that is one nasty chemical ....perm ...) Guest guest
Trly, How will I be able to go back to work???? I work with people with disabilities. At times I need to take them to their doctor appointments and such. I attend meetings, and work in an office with many other people in close quarters. Please tell me what everyone does about their job??? I have one week left to conquer this battle, but it doesn't sound like it will be possible. I feel like my life is ruined. Thank you all for your words of wisdom and ways to conquer this living nightmare. I have a dehumidifier downstairs that I am going to bring upstairs to run today. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT EVERYONE DOES TO CONTINUE WORKING WITH THIS NIGHTMARE. THANKS! SUE > > > > I have been out of work for the last week and a half. Guest guest
Oh, I hope I can conquer this. Thanks so much for you input, as well as from everyone else. I need to stop crying, and get some more work done. I just have so much stuff in this house. Yesterday I conquered the bathroom closet, right down to re-painting the whole inside and shelves. Today will be the pantry closet. Thanks again!! > > Sue > > You will get over this! Guest guest
I've treated all of my birds. They all look great. I was having great success with having new babies with my Lady Gouldian Finches. I have taken all of the nest boxes off, threw out good eggs, cut down on the amount of cages by putting all of the birds into less cages. I washed and bleached everything in that room. I took all of my birds downstairs so that I could fog their bird room. I'm sure people will think that the bird mites have come from my birds, but they never had them before. I have done a few stupid things!!! I took in a wild baby bird that my son gave to me, I switched birds with another bird breeder (but she gets her birds from everywhere), I had a Robins nest on the drain pipe next to my bedroom window, as well as birds nesting in the bushes in front of the house. I thought it was great that I had so many birds nesting near by. I even threw out my extra sprouted seed that I give to my finches, to the nesting birds in my bushes. I had NO idea something like this could happen. I know it won't do me any good to figure out how and why, but more on how do I get rid of these evil little things~!!! I have been breeding Miniature Schnauzers for the last 11 years. I own 10, and I'm scared to death when I read that people have had to get rid of their pets. Thank you for your support. Guest guest
Hi Sue this bug seems to be in many many places. It does die though Sulfur 1 teasp, 1 teasp oil ( coconut, oive etc & 9 teaspns hand creme (ay yupe , but healthy no mineral oil tyses are best) add oil then sulfur from www.americarx .com, then shake well an add hand creme and shake in a dishwashing liquid bottle. Then I apply top of head to toe for a few days , poss 15 daus m, it stops the itch instantly and for bad areas I use it 50/50 strength m it is painless, it makes the skin dry though and lots of oil is necessary for the skin ... Trly is right on in what she wrote. Go to Rays protocol and read it he is cured too. here is hs net site he se up to help , he sells nothing just lists his weapons: Ray Rey cure for mites, good info http : / / www . squidoo . com / invisible- bugs or search word : squidoo invisible- bugs Sue be careful with windex it has ethelyne glycol (anti freeze)in it , it is a kidney damaging chemical. I will not breathe it , Irecommend a respirator like Ray does. It is a bug it will die. starve it, gas it soak it in gooey soap, dry it with epsom , bleach it with bleach , poison it with cvs ant traps all these things kill it, on the skin I use sulfur, on the face betadine for 5 mins then rinse and they are gone for weeks ( do not use betadine in the eye if so rinse immediatly , on the head: msm 4)500 mg tablets disolved in 3 oz of water as a spritz I work in . Computer smelly citrus wipes left on the mouse, keyboard buy 2 and soak 1 in windex then fry they can take windex many many times ($20.00) Ok I have to get back to work , it is beautiful outside today God bless you , Bill Sue wrote: > I've treated all of my birds. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I am sorry things are so bad. A few things that "mite" help. You may want to give up steam cleaning and fogging. Most of us have found that these buggers like humidity. water makes them go crazy like gremblins. You water them and they multiply. Also no feeding them after midnight. Sort of joking, but if you cover your self in olive oil or I found I like pledge orange oil for furniture on both furniture and me. Tea tree oil and borax in the bath folowed by a shower with a bar of tea tree soap and lice combing hair. Raid on Stuff you sit on and carry with you seems to help too. Dehumidifires at 35% humidity and warm temps seems to really get the numbers down for many. I added bifitherin and Adam's naylar spray to dehumidifying and heating with just one dehumidifire in the bedroom and internaly started taking sulfur and oragano oil. This really helped. Maybe some of this can help you too. Hope this helps. J. From: Sue <terc@...>Subject: Hello everyone! Guest guest
You may also want to try the tea tree oil. I have found its less harsh on the hair and body but tends to kill them. Add some borax to the mix and that has really helped do the job for me. Maybe it can help you too. J. From: Willow Morningsky <WillowMorningSky@...>Subject: Re: Hello everyone! Do you also spray that same mixture on your body? Wouldyou fill a tub with the mixture and soak in it? The Clorox and Dawnbaths have gotmy skin like a leather-paper thing that just breaks if I accidentallystretch it. It's really painful.>> Sue, I hope the cedar oil helps you. I sprayed gallons in my hone andit didn't get rid of the things. Helps me feel less for a little whilebut the things persisted. The only thing that has killed them in myhouse was the Clorox, salt and raid. I hope you can hang in there andkeep trying...it' s really all we can do. Try the raid in yourcar.....don' t use the Raid bombs, they have different chemicals inthem......use the raid ant and roach spray. Spray the car until it issaturated... ..very wet......under the seat and the carpet must besoaked...you may have to use 4 cans each time you spray. Guest guest
Sue, You are so welcome. I know first hand what you're going through. It's tough... but you CAN do it. You must find products that you can use on your person to keep them off of you. When you get up in the morning... Just make sure that after you take your shower and are finishing up your body " mite " cleaning protocol... DO NOT sit on ANY of your furniture...Don't touch anything else in the house... Just make sure that when you walk out of your bathroom, that you ARE ready to go straight to work. Walk right out the door. Don't stop to feed the birds... don't do anything... Just get out the door quickly... Keep in your purse a bottle of Purell Hand sanitizer... and a small bottle of " Baby Oil Lavender GEL " ... When you feel one bite you on the arms, legs, face or wherever while you are at work... whip out the hand sanitizer (It contains 72% Ethyl Alcohol) and rub a bit on. Kills 'em dead. Use the Baby Oil Gel for your private areas. Slather it on... don't be sparing with it, because the last thing that you want is for these demons to be crawling into places where they have no business being... This will stop the ones crawling in and also stop the ones crawling out... (My apologies for the " graphics " ... But lets face it... if they aren't doing this already... it will only be a matter of time before they do. I'm trying to save you the heartache of experiencing what I went through.) I know there has been some discussion here about the use of petroleums... but I for one would much rather suffer the consequences of short term petroleum use than to have these things rape me at will... DO as Rita Suggests and get the Raid out and spray the tarnation out of your car... Then I would take it one step further and cover your seats and the backs with garbage bags immediately after spraying. Lay one in the floorboard of the car immediately after spraying. Make sure it goes up under the pedals and up under the seat. Pin it down with straight pins or safety pins if you have to, to keep it from sliding around. Don't give them an easy way out. DO NOT forget to spray your headliner. If you don't... they will migrate there to get away from the Raid and when you get into your car, they will literally jump onto and infest your scalp and hair. DO this every single day AFTER you get out of your car. If you do it after you get out of your car, your body heat has attracted them to the surface making them easier to kill. Change these garbage bags every single day. DO NOT reuse them. Throw them away. When you bring the dehumidifer upstairs... put it immediately in the bedroom... That would be my suggestion... You need at least one room in the house where you can find refuge from this... then you can work on the rest of the house as you go along. If you can, purchase a couple more of them and put them throughout your home. It will be cheaper in the long run... trust me... Vacuum like a wild woman! I cannot stress this enough! Vacuum... Vacuum... VACUUM!!! Don't let your vacuum cleaner bag sit. Every time that you vacuum... either throw the bag away or empty the bin... depending on the type of vacuum you have. Do this OUTSIDE! If you let it sit, they will crawl out and all your hard work has been for nothing. The above are just some other suggestions. Most of these I have used and they WORK! Bless your heart Sue. Good luck and find that body and environmental protocl QUICKLY! Remember... Healthy, positive ANGER is a good thing! (hint.. hint) Hugs! Trly > > Trly, > How will I be able to go back to work???? Guest guest
I needed to hear the graphic part. It's already happening. Thank you so much. At times I feel so angry, and I attack this war, but boy then there are times that I wish I could just throw in the towel as it seems to be never ending! Do you think that I need to get rid of my birds? Sue > > > > Trly, > > How will I be able to go back to work???? I work with people with > > disabilities. Guest guest
There are 2 Sues on the forum. The first one is recovered as we read in a recent post. I refer to her as sauna (she owned an in-home unit which helps tremendously) and orange plus Sue. We have a new Sue here as in Sue L. It's unfortunate that we have another Sue... hopefully Sue L will be where Sue is now soon! (us all!) > > I have been out of work for the last week and a half.
