Guest guest
I completely agree . anesthesia slows down the processes extremely badly. One of my closest friends had knee surgery and literally was constipated for over a week. > > >ok maybe I'll try this before the capsules.. > >at this point (since last nite)... Guest guest
" chew' your water too. Sometimes we drink and drink, but the body doesn't absorb it. Swishing it in your mouth helps it go down with your body's own enzymes etc. the reason I suggested nerves too, is because it's going on 3 weeks..that's all. > > > > You would be amazed to know just how general anesthesia slows down > > the bowel processes, too. Guest guest
Suzi - When I had my second child, I had an emergency C-section. I was in ICU for 3-4 days, was in the hospital for 3 weeks. During that time I was hooked up to 4 IV's and numerous drugs, including narcotics. I never did have a bowel movement after the surgery but before I went home from the hospital. I was home for about 3 days when suddenly I couldn't stand up, the stomach pain was so bad. It radiated from one side to the other and across my back and I felt bad, bad, bad. My mom, who is a nurse, had come home with me and when she found out I was having the stomach pain and hadn't had a bowel movement since the surgery she went ballistic, LOL. (The nurses I had were very remiss in not making sure I had bowel movements before letting me go) Mom gave me my choice of drinking Milk of Magnesia or taking a Correctol laxative. I opted for the Correctol and took one or two that evening, was up and down all night from the pain but by the morning I had a bowel movement and the pain disappeared, never to return, thank goodness. A couple of years after that episode I had surgery under general anesthesia for a hernia repair and I didn't poop for another 3 weeks after that, and I didn't have near the drugs that time as I had before. General anesthesia affects me so badly that 4 or 5 weeks after the hernia surgery, I had an appt. with my eye doctor for an eye test. He stopped the eye test in the middle and forced me to go, immediately, right at that moment, to my doctor because of the irregularities he was seeing in the back of my eye. He thought I had a raging case of diabetes that was going to send me into a coma, but it turned out to be nothing more than the side effects of the anesthesia. General anesthesia does bad things to the body, as I saw my mom go through almost the same thing I did when she had knee surgery about 5 years ago. You might try the Milk of Magnesia - I had forgotten that until I started to type. Good luck - At 04:02 PM 2/15/2007, you wrote: >But we're on 3 wks... and I am going some..... with all I've done, >I'm beginning t think this may not be constipation... going to do >some research... and with all the water and juices I'm dr;inking >doubtful it's dehydration...
