Guest guest
Sorry to be boring, but I have to insist again! The scent of this lip gloss must be wonderful, but I would avoid citrus oil in it (especially cold pressed) because they are known as photosensitizer. I didn't have the tangerine EO so I substituted orange in the same amount. I would love to see some more recipes in the smaller amount, as I don't sell what I make just use it for myself and give some to friends. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Thanks so much for the lip-gloss recipe, that is very kind of you. Timely also as my grand-daughter has just asked me if I could make some for her. Thanks again. Sandy

I have all of the ones that she sent that day in a folder, but you can go to the archive and get all of them. The next one that I want to try is the skin cream for oily skin. Guest guest
Hi Jane; This is the recipe that I use for lip balm/gloss. I got it from the files of this list. I have never had any trouble with this recipe, and it will keep for a very long time with out any separation. In fact this is the only one that I use, you can change the flavor but still use the base. When I find something that works as well as this one does, I will stay with it. Guest guest
Raven, I realized that you posted this recipe ages ago, but I forgot to ask, is the aloe vera gel that you use the actual aloe vera gel, or the thickened kind? Thanks for your help. Citrus Lip Gloss 3 Tbsp. sweet almond oil 2 tsp. beeswax (pearls or solid beeswax grated and measured) 1 tsp. aloe vera gel 1 tsp. honey 800 IU Vitamin E 4 drops lemon essential oil 3 drops tangerine essential oil Melt beeswax and almond oil together in a heatproof container over boiling water. When melted, remove from heat. Add honey and Vitamin E, mixing briskly with a wire whisk. Add aloe vera gel, and continue to mix briskly. When almost cool and set, add the essential oils and mix. Do not stop whisking while the mixture is cooling -- the ingredients could separate and you would have a lumpy product. Store in a low widemouthed jar. Leanna in Alberta. Guest guest
Hi, Could this be poured into a lip balm tube like the others? Thanks for your help. Esther
Guest guest
Hi Leanna; The aloe vera gel is the clear kind that I buy at Wal-Mart. It is labeled as 100% aloe vera gel. I comes in about an 8 ounce bottle and costs around $3.00. The store in the area where I live has it in with the sun tan oils etc. Raven > > Citrus Lip Gloss > 3 Tbsp. sweet almond oil > 2 tsp. beeswax (pearls or solid beeswax grated and measured) > 1 tsp. aloe vera gel > 1 tsp. honey > 800 IU Vitamin E > 4 drops lemon essential oil > 3 drops tangerine essential oil > Melt beeswax and almond oil together in a heatproof container over > boiling water. Guest guest
Hi Raven, thanks for the reply, but I have checked out all of the aloe vera gels in the stores and they are all thickened. Pure aloe vera gel is a thin liquid and needs a thickener. At least that is the info I have from the company that I order my aloe vera gel from states. So, the stuff you use is the allready thickened kind? Thanks again. Leanna in Alberta.
Guest guest
Hi Esther; I pour mine into the lip tubes but the last I made I ran out of tubes so I had to put some into pots. I like the tubes bettter. But I have some tubes ordered and they should be here soon. They are coming by priority mail from Anchorage Alaska, so it should take about a week. Guest guest
Thanks, I will try that. I thought it should work OK, but wondered about the aloe vera and honey. And she said she kept whisking. I always melt and pour mine lip balms. Esther
