Oh yeah that does sound like a good one. Do you think one could mix the two (garlic and mullein) or just keep them separate?

My daddy used to get an herbal ear oil for

me when I had ear infections, always worked like a charm.

Ear Infection Therapy With Garlic....

I have used the

garlic/mullein oil for my daughter who is 18 and has suffered ear infections

her whole life. 1st one when she was 4 weeks old. Don was the one who told me

about it - only wish i had of had that info earlier in her life - would have

saved her many trips to the Dr. and many bottles of 'pink medicine'.

She has not had

1 infection since we started using the oil. I have told many people about this

but most just look at me with the deer in the headlight look.

We always keep an infusion of garlic and mullien in olive oil on hand.

Works WONDERS!

I remember that, as a child, I would be moaning in pain with a

heating pad over my ear while I laid on the couch with yet another

extreme ear ache.

My poor mom (literally, at times) just wasn't equipped to deal with

us kid's ear aches.

Memories (do we hear a song in the background???) of that pain is one

of the many things that have impelled me into the " health/all

natural " lifestyle that I have. I don't want (or anyone else)

to have to go through that.

Just my two pesos.....

Yup. And the ironic thing is, a lot of us used to be the ones with that

very look on our faces.

Remember our canine and feline friends with the garlic oil ear

remedy, too. Especially effective is corn oil with a bit of fresh

sliced garlic just heated to the point of sizzle. Remove from heat,

strain through a fine seive, strain again thru a fine seive lined

with a coffee filter. Someone else mentioned there need to be

absolutely no garlic particles in the oil, and they were right.

Sometimes several strainings thru new coffee filters are required.

Five drops per ear (big dogs), 1-2 drops per ear eensy dogs and cats.

Done on a regular basis (weekly) this prevents ear mites, infections,

you name it, it never takes hold. (Not being a fan of commercial

corn or corn oils, after finally getting sick and tired of dealing

with Lab ear issues, I went for the big guns, haha.)

A little olive oil added for the moisturizing effect is helpful. So

is a bit of high-quality coconut oil.

Also, weak chamomile tea makes an excellent ear dry solution for

dogs. I can't speak for cats on that one, sorry. Now watch, a stray

cat is going to show up in my yard, I just know it, and with ear

problems, just jinxed myself. :) 1-3 drops per ear daily depending

on size for infections or ear mites, 1-3 drops weekly for maintenance.

Warming both the above remedies in a cup of hot water before

application helps keep the ear canal from contracting and the drops

can be massaged in while the ear is held up and you can feel the ear

canal. After a while they come to like it, well the Labs anyway.

Again, can't speak for the cats.

Storage for the above is easy. Store-brand nose sprays are cheap and

the little squirter part unscrews, so the contents can be emptied,

the bottle sterilized, and then refilled with the garlic oil or weak

chamomile tea. These are great remedies and work for people and

furbabies alike.

Another thing to consider is if our furbabies tend toward yeasty

ears, there's likely a gut health imbalance. Dogs and cats can be

given probiotics, too. Around this house dipping into the yogurt

gains you a big audience, same with kefir. Our dogs are even begging

for coconut kefir these days. If they don't seem amenable to the

taste of plain yogurt or kefir, a little meat juice added works

miracles, then it's a treat. <big grin>

Hope that was helpful to anyone here, it sure solved a lot of issues

with our one Lab who tends toward ear issues; now it's become a part

of the regular routine around here.
