If the tick's head is embedded in the skin: With your thumb and forefinger pinch up the fold of skin with the embedded tick head. Using a scalpel or a sterilized single razor blade, carefully scrape the skin containing the head and mouth of the tick, or use a sterilized needle to break the skin and remove the head and mouth. If you are tick squeamish, ask you doctor to perform this tick extraction. The only other suggestion is a drawing salve... They tried to get it out and half of it remained in his arm. Is there anything to put on the tick to help draw it out at this time?

Hi , the head will come out on its

own. Even when a tick is properly removed with steady, even, and straight

upward pressure a part called the hypostome is usually left. The body will

attack it and dump it out in a few days. Messing with it further or trying to

cut it out has its own problems. What this person needs to do now is make sure

he sees his healthcare provider of choice to watch for Lyme disease.

Ticks can go without breathing for long

periods of time.

If you put dish soap on a

cotton ball or piece of paper towel, hold it on the tick, it will come out. It

can't breathe.

Hi

Yes the part of the tick is now embeded in his arm. It is actually the head that is embeded at this time.
