Guest guest
Jina, Have you spoke with a naturopath? They could help you... working probably with a nerve tonic along with other things. suziJina <dapples57@...> wrote: Hi Everyone, I apoligize for my last post. I want to get of this crap, sometimes I feel this works and sometimes it doesn't at any rate I cannot just stop this pill because of all the side effects and there are many. Yes nutrition does play a big roll in obtaining positive mental and emotional health and I know that it will be good in the long run but I cannot just stop this pill (i wish i could) I need something to ease me off. and while some pills you can cut in half this you cannot because it's a time release capsule. Yes there is a smaller dosage, but circumstances does not forsee me looking @ that option. Most MD's I have visited will not help , they explain that I need this and thats why I am on it etc etc. there response gets long and very frustrating to me. Any way sorry for my babbling. Guest guest
Jina, I was on effexor for anxiety for many years and had extreme trouble getting off of it. People on this list were EXTREMELY helpful in supporting my desire to get off of the medication and to help advise me how to cleanse etc. My experience, I had to open the effexor capsule, and count out the " beads " . I couldn't just cut it in half, but had to take just a few beads out of a capsule for a few weeks, and progress like that. I still had reactions when I was only taking 4-8 beads..just 4-8 individual beads!!!! So do be careful. I did a lot of juice cleansing, a lot of hydrotherapy/cold-hot showers, I did a lot of epsom salt baths and a LOT of dry brushin, day and night to try and get my body to get it out of my system. It was such a rough time, but I knew I'd be better for it in the end. I still have anxiety to this day, but, what helps me, especially in an acute attack, is acupuncture. I do use bach rescue remedy at times, and as suzi said, a homeopath or bette ryet, a naturopath (that will look for nutrient deficiencies etc) might be able to help. But, my acupuncturist is amazingly helpful. The last time I had an anxiety attack, i8t was severe and I came into the office exhausted from it. She did an hour session with me, used many points in my ears as well as the top of my head and feet/hands. I was able to sleep peacefully that night, and felt calm and just peaceful for the rest of the day, and a few days afterwards. It just seemed to soothe my worry and fears so well. So....she is my trick to helping myself with the anxiety. Do talk with your doctor, but good for you, for wanting more for yourself. Nutrition and what you put into your body DOES play a huge part. Drink plenty of pure water, get plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Some will disagree but having a grain like brown rice or millet (soaked for 6-8 hours befor eyou cook it) in the morning for breakfast (chewing EXTREMELY well) really helps me start my day off more calmly. You can find out a lot about calming nature of specific grains from macrobioitc or chinese medicine websites. That was the one thing she (the acupuncturist) urged me to do first when I went to see her for my anxiety. She said to eat a grain fro breakfast - millet especially, but I have eaten barley, oat groats and brown rice as well. I chew a kazillion times when I eat it, but I DO feel more calm throughout my day when I do eat it for breakfast. I hope this helps, It's a long haul, but a good choice....this is just my personal experience, yours may differ Yours in Health, Anne --- In health , Jina <dapples57@...> wrote: > > Hi Everyone, I apoligize for my last post. Guest guest
Jina, ask your doctor for a slightly lower dose than can be cut in half. I took myself off my antianxiety, but it does have to be done slowly. If he/she won’t change the script, look for a practitioner with a more open mind. Some are very old-school stubborn and many are very open to alternative therapies. May I ask what the medication is? I have a PDR on my computer and can look and see what forms it comes in. Guest guest
Why not a whole food supplement that feeds your brain? There are definitely some out there. Guest guest
When stopping medications that have side effects from stopping taking it, its very important to work with a doctor. You have to at least find the reason why you were on the medication and have that fixed before you come off of it.AngieJina <dapples57@...> wrote: Hi Everyone, I apoligize for my last post. You have to at least find the reason why you were on the medication and have that fixed before you come off of it. If I'd waited until they told me I was 'fixed', I'd still be on the paxil and sanaquin (sp?) and something else to make me sleep at night. I was told, made to sign papers in fact, that should I quit taking the meds abruptly I could and most likely would experience convulsions, nausea and other ugly things. I begged three times for the medical doctors to wean me off all that mess, every time they'd catch that holier than thou attitude and say, 'in due time, missy...in due time'. Well, after three years of that BS, I weaned myself. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR ANYONE. But, I was at my wit's end with these doctors. And, then I just forgot to take them at all. Now, I would agree with finding a Naturopath...a good one could probably tell you exactly how to wean yourself. Where there's a will, there's a way. Take that one to the bank. Guest guest
If you can't find a naturopath try a pharmacist.. maybe several till you find one that will help you with the meds.. many times they can and will tell you more than a doctor. >> When stopping medications that have side effects from stopping taking it, its very important to work with a doctor. Guest guest
I wasn't ruffled at all. it takes a lot more then that. I was a nursing student. Some of those side effects that happen when you drop a med too fast are permanent, depending the med. one just has to be careful. If you don't get the cause and have a good plan, you are setting yourself up fail and need the med again, unless you really didn't need it in the first place. I speak from experience on this one.shoogabritchesshoogabritches <ShoogaBritches@...> wrote: --Idiot, yes, yes...correct you are...that's what brought me here, now I'm lost again.
