Guest guest
- my new journal is ready for 2003. Bought 2 of them this year. One is an appointment style book where I plan on making appointments with MYSELF for my daily exercise plan and food plan. The other is my JOURNEY - where I write my thoughts and feelings along the way. I am spending the end of 2002 as I have been for the past 6 weeks. Struggling with some tummy problems but continuing in a downward direction. I am taking the last 11 days (yup that's all thats left to this year) to refocus my attention on what it takes to do the work and not on my health problems! I have been letting those problems interfere with my weight loss and that needs to stop. I plan on being ready, willing and able to handle anything that comes my way...... Guest guest
I have to admit, I haven't posted much lately. I've been off my plan for about a month and a half. I don't know what caused it, stress I think. Between the confinement of being at home (and all the duties of being a 24 / 7caregiver) and the holiday season I kind of just gave up. BUT....I see a new year coming round the corner and I want to take full advantage to begin anew. I asked for some certain items for Christmas to help me on this endeavor, but I doubt seriously that I will get them. People just really don't believe that's what I want, you know? Anyway, I had a little scare last night that really has me wanting to get back on track. I think I had chest pains. I'm not sure, it felt like gas or indigestion but it was up high, right in the breast bone and I couldn't take a deep breath. It went on for a couple of hours, I chewed some Pepcid and it made it a little better, but yes, it scared me. That's never happened before, except for when I've been climbing a hill or something. I'll be 37 next month, so I guess it's not unheard of for something like that to happen. You just don't see yourself having that kind of stuff and when it happens it's like a brick in the face. I've been eating some really salty/fatty foods this past week and I can tell a big difference, especially in my ankles. So, I am going to behave for the next two weeks and then on Jan 1, I will start again, to live healthy. On another note...my 14 yr old son is on several antibiotics, very strong ones and it is affecting his bm's. He has diarrhea every single day and since he's paraplegic he does not have control of the bottom half of his body (hence the daily stress of caregiving, I've been changing diapers for 14 years). Anyway, I've asked relentlessly about something to help with this problem and have not gotten answers. I know that there are some ladies on this list that are very knowledgeable nutritionally speaking and wondered if they had any advice. He will be taking these medications for two years and cannot continue to deal with this for two years on an every day basis. All the culture tests have been run and they all have come back clean. It's just the meds causing loose stools. Any suggestions? Sorry if this grossed some of you out too much. It's part of daily life in this household. Shaw in Nevada JLambsr@... Goal for now is to get to where the scale reads my weight!

Guest guest
I resort to TV dinners some times. First I always buy those with under 7 grams of fat. Then I look at the number of calories. Next I check out the food in the dinner. I start by pulling cards until they come close to the calorie count. 80 calories for bread, 60 for fruit, 75 for meat, 45 for fat, 25 for veggies, 90 for milk, 30 bonus / extra. Its not exact but then I don't stress out over every little calorie. Portion control is what I am aiming for. Can you tell me more about the software you got from dietpower? Is it for a desktop computer or a PDA? How did it work? Do you use it often? Jelayne 250 / 193 / 150? Re: Roll Call for END OF YEAR... , I have been using the Foodmover, but find it's a little restrictive when I have frozen dinners or something else pre-packaged. Some days I just don't have time for anything else and I don't know how many windows to close for certain things. To gear up for the New Year, I've purchased a software program from www.dietpower.com to keep track of what I'm eating and my exercise. I'm looking forward to the new year and the new me! in OH
Guest guest
Hi all! :-) I am wondering how you think I should handle my being here, since I am pregnant, and am not supposed to be dieting and trying to lose weight for the next 8 months? Should I leave? I am thinking maybe I can report in on if I am drinking my water, if and what I am doing for exercise? Reporting on process, rather than progress? I am using the Foodmover, with modification due to pregnancy... maybe I can report if it was a good day/week/month? Let me know how or what I can contribute here, and I will be happy to. Guest guest
Please stay. Pregnancy is not forever and you need to be eating healthy for your and your babies sake. BUT last year my oldest 7 at the time was on a strong dose of antibiotics and it just made everything go threw her. Poor kid had accidents in school. She would not even realize she had gone it was like water. So I called and they said to go to the pharmacy and buy a vitimin type thing. Dont ask the name of it begins with an A. BUT it is an ingredient that is in yogurt that helps stop diarrhea. Call your pharmasist. Guest guest
Dont you dare leave. Just because your pregnant you still have to be on a program. Maybe even more so. Especially if you show sugar problems when they do the test. I bet you are taking better care of yourself now than you were. Guest guest
> I am wondering how you think I should handle my being here, since I am pregnant, and am not supposed to be dieting and trying to lose weight for the next 8 months? You're still supposed to be eating healthy, right? 3 square meals with healthy snacks inbetween, if I remember. And if you're like most of us, it's *not* the way you were eating *before* you joined, right? So, depend on us to make sure you're eating right, avoiding all the junk food, drinking your water, and all that jazz. You're supposed to gain during pregnancy, but should be *baby* weight, not pizza weight. > Should I leave? Don't you dare! You now have a listfull of aunties rooting for that kid. > I am thinking maybe I can report in on if I am drinking my water, if and what I am doing for exercise? Does the doc have you on any restrictions? I know most yoga is out for pregnant women, and any aerobics that make you jump around or strain in the abdominal area (sit-ups are a definite no-no). >I am using the Foodmover, with modification due to pregnancy... maybe I can report if it was a good day/week/month? Report if it's a bad one, too, so maybe we can help you make a better food decision next time. > Let me know how or what I can contribute here, and I will be happy to. The same as everyone else, without mention of weight gained. What are you eating? How often, how much? Any favorite recipes to share? What are your holiday plans? Have you figured out what color to paint the nursery?
Guest guest
April - I for one think you should stay! Weight gain during pregnancy is especially hard to control for some of us - and I see no reason why you shouldn't stay. Your doctor will be telling you what to do and you will be following his advice - but you can use all the support you can get during this time. Guest guest
Shaw, it sounds like you live a very challenging life caring for your son. My heart goes out to you. Can your son's doc try a different antibiotic? Augmentin gives my kids terrible diarhea so I always ask for something else. My almost 3 year old has been on antibiotics every day for almost 2.5 years. My older daughter was on antibiotics for a year. She outgrew the urinary tract defect so we're hoping my youngest outgrows it soon too. She'll be retested in a few months.
