Guest guest
ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS from Your right to be Beautiful (from the newsletter by Tonya Zavasta BEAUTIFUL ON RAW ) Q. Please let me know if the appearance of my skin will get worse before it gets better. I have been about 80% raw up until 10 days ago after which I have been 100% raw. I am not sure if I am particularly over sensitive about my looks, but in the last few days, my skin feels very dry all over my body. Any advice? B A. Some people, especially the once who are thin, with going 100% raw notice that their skin becomes very dry during the first weeks. They panic that their face and hands appear to be aging rapidly. When you go 100% raw overnight, the introduction of toxins into your body is greatly reduced and your body will begin releasing the retained water. The first several weeks are when the greatest weight loss will occur. You are losing primarily water. The main reason is that cooked food has a great deal of hidden salt in it. Your skin is losing water also, so the dryness is the most apparent there. This is a temporary condition. Your skin is the largest organ in your body. One of the skin functions is to regulate the levels of water and salts in your body. Your body is releasing water it does not need any longer. Dryness of the skin is one of the detox symptoms that will be alleviated when most of the toxins leave the body. The skin is divided in 3 main sections. The top layer is called the epidermis. Underneath this is the dermis, and below the dermis is the subcutaneous layer. Epidermis is what we see, but it is the condition of dermis and subcutaneous layers that determines whether or not we like what we see. You will need to give the raw foods some time to work their miracle from the inside. You might need to drink more water during this period. But I believe daily fresh squeezed vegetable juices and green smoothies will work better. I would recommend during this time continuing dry brushing of the whole body, face included. Daily masks for the face may also be very beneficial. Mix some avocado and some berries together and place on your face for 10-15 minutes. Then remove it with the tooth brush (not the same one you use for brushing your teeth!) I describe this technique in my book Your Right to Be Beautiful. Suzi What is a weed?
