Guest guest
I was juicing some citrus (oranges, blood oranges, lemons and limes), and she said I shouldn't use the whole fruit because the white part (pith?)is toxic. The pith isn't toxic. In fact that's where the bioflavonoids are and they enhance the Vit. C which is in the fruity part. However I have heard that the skin itself can have some toxicity so it's best to scrape out the white part (pith), eat that, and throw the skin away. Others say that if the citrus fruit is organic you can juice the whole thing. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Heck no ! The white part is where the good stuff is. I only juice the whole lemon, but that's only because I don't care for the taste of orange peeling. Shari

Guest guest
Y'see, that's what I've always thought too. But I don't want to be close minded about what I believe, I want to be able to learn. Wish my daughter had the same attitude. Peace, love, laughter Ambition is a poor excuse for not having enough sense to be lazy. > > Heck no ! The white part is where the good stuff is. Guest guest
I hate to be a wet blankie folks, but I can't stand the white pith. My mother made us eat it and it never appealed to me. Same with juicing the rind - I will pass. Gayla Always Enough RanchAcampo, Californiahttp://bouncinghoofs.com/alwaysenough.htmlBill Barnhill is our Inspiration! Go Bill!!!aeranch@... Guest guest
Same with juicing the rind - I will pass. I juiced the rind on a lemon once. It ruined the whole drink. Now I peel the citrus and just take bioflavonoid caps. Gloria ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Don't feel bad... I have the same sentiments. I can't do the peel or pith and when I drink commercial O J It really does a job on my stomach. I read years ago I think in " Back to Eden " (can't think if authors name) and maybe in Rhodales mags that the white part (and maybe the peel, don't member fa sho,) contains material that is used to make explosives. Also OJ is contra indicated, from what I have heard on TV, and which I can attest to personally, for persons with arthritis.--We wish you all the best, Leona---- Gayla wrote:> I hate to be a wet blankie folks, but I can't stand the white pith.
