Guest guest
Dear Obay, I do understand what the frustration is. I would say take excellent legible notes in a small 3 x 4 sprial bound pocket notebook that you can keep in your pocket. Write down what you learn about each company. Then when you get many done think about writing a book, because I do not know of any such book for the SAME reasons you outlined. But I will say this: even once you think you are ready to write that book all will probably have CHANGED! Sorry! At the very least there will be newer and additional insurance companies and plans, but also NEW things occuring due to the new Obama health care law, and those to be implemented later. Please note: " externship " and " internship " are words that are used interchangeably by many. I do not understand why you think you need an externship at 'Walgreen's or anywhere for that matter, if you are already working at Walgreen's. I am not sure I can tell you exactly how to get an externship anywhere if you are not going through a school. But I will suggest the following: 1. Contact the pharmacy in person and explain what you would like to do and ask if they have such an externshp program and how to apply or qualify. 2. If they do not have such a program, go home and write up a proposal of what you would like to get out of an externship and what you think the pharmacy will get out of allowing you to extern there (with their pharmacist and techs). BE VERY SPECIFIC!!! . 3. Write also how much time you think you will need or research school externships in your area and find out how long the average externship is. 4. Explain how valuable you will be to them if they decide to hire you once trained. Talk 'bit' about ethics and giving back to the community and how you too if hired or any place that does hire you after your training would benefit as you would also give back by training others. 5. Talk about how they will train you without commitment to hiring you, yet they would have that option when you finished the training. 6. Site states that have training programs and why they went that route instead of hiring off the street. You will need to do your research and make citations in your paper. 7.What can it hurt? You just might find a pharmacist willing or one who knows a fellow pharmacist who is in need of a trainee who might just give this a try. BREAK the TRADITION! Break NEW GROUND! 8. Alternatively go to a pharmacy WITH your written proposal and see what they say and how they react. Tell them they are the first pharmacy that you have visited, do not admit to you have checked or proposed to 4 others and they all turned you down. Why? because they will think that there must be something wrong with your proposal or idea.  I do not know how you would get an externship with the same company you work for? Good luck and keep us informed. Perhaps someone reading this will have more advice other comments. The hardest thing for me is billing the insurance, with all these different Rx insurance plans and every plan has its' own requirements. It’s just hard to figure out the correct plan ID in relatively short time, I searched the internet trying to find a book or a program to help me but I didn't find what I need. Probably because every company has its' own rules about billing the insurance, so I decided to look for an extern-ship at Walgreens, do you know how can I apply for an extern-ship at Walgreens? Or what can I do to be fast at billing the insurance? Thanks in advance RegardsObay

Guest guest
to obay i use to work for osco pharmacy and yes the billing was so hard..i had to know the codes for insurances to input in the computer..it was hard especially when you had a long line of patients waiting..it was a challenge...the best thing you can do is ask your employer and co workers for help..and thats what i did...luckly one of my co workers had a list of all insurance codes on her notes from the years of experience she had...and patience in teaching me with billing....she had past on those notes for me...so when it was time to input insurance info in the computer i would always look at the notes and as time past by i got to a point where i didnt need the notes....so basically anything that you learn in the pharmacy i really recommend to write it down on a pocket note pad and carry it at all times..it will be beneficial in the long run...and later on you wont even need the notepad no longer..but really ask your employer for help privately.... crystal ________________________________ From: Jeanetta Mastron <rxjm2002@...> Sent: Wed, March 31, 2010 5:59:38 PM Subject: Re: Inquiry Dear Obay, I do understand what the frustration is.
